He/Him

Hello, I am Robert and I love all types of music and people who love playing and listening to music. This is my second FAWM event and I am looking forward to listening, learning and creating new music with all of you. I am a novice songwriter and use an acoustic guitar to compose. My goal for this FAWM is to explore some different song structures and improve my lyric writing.

Influences: #Humbird #AnnaTivel #LauraVeirs #TVZ #JeffreyMartin #TheInnocenceMission

Thanks so much for your comments on lost in the sorrow! I really appreciate it

Thanks Robert for your kind comment on "A philosopher's reflection". I'm glad you found my page because now I know of yours. You asked about my guitar sound... I use Cubase as my recording software. On this song I used my Taylor 614CE, which is a truly beautiful guitar and I'm very lucky to have it. It was miked using a Shure KSM 141 and I used Cubase's channel strip for EQ and compression and I added another software compressor (UAD LA-2A) as a channel insert. I generally play with EQ and compression to try to get the guitar to sit well within in the mix, aiming to accent the most appealing frequencies of the guitar part.

Robert, thanks so much for your thoughtful comments about Old Photos. Those of us of a certain age probably all have a box or two of photos that we inherited from our folks (who maybe inherited some from theirs). Our kids and grandkids won't have that issue! I haven't listened much so far this month, mainly due to a busier than usual calendar, but am so looking forward to hearing what you have come up. I shall return!

Glad you received it but such a shame that it broke....or is it??? Maybe there's even a song in that...broken messages...I don't know but there's always a silver lining to find? Anyway I am working on a song from your postcard I received so thank you for that lovely insight into life there. Looking forward to this continuing exchange.

Hi there - just catching up on comments and wanted to thank you for stopping by "Common" and for your kind words about our instrumentation. We are proud of what we created there πŸ’š

Hi, @riverman. Thank you for your comments on A Man I Don't Know, my collab with @sheslin. She was great to work with and we had a good time. It's particularly helpful to hear the things you liked about the song (contrast/reverb, etc.) Because or your comments, I discovered your page, so I have some listening to do! I love how this works! πŸ˜€

Hi, again, Robert! I forgot to answer your question about my guitar. It's just a single track with a kinda busy fingerpicking pattern. No bass - that's just me hitting the low strings with my thumb,

Hi, Robert! Thanks very much for your generous comments on "Hippocrene" - much appreciated!

I have a little audigo mic that I bluetooth to my phone, but that's it. For me FAWM is about the songwriting, and I don't want to learn new tech/production skills right now . . .

Hiya Robert! Fellow second year FAWMer here, and a new follower! Hope you have a great FAWM 2025! 😁

Hey Robert, we have been paired up for the postcard challenge! Are you still in for this? If so, it would be great to exchange addresses soon as I'm across the pond.

Thanks for pointing me to @saulius's beautiful "Mother's Prayer"!

@saulius

I really appreciate your comments on "Mother's Prayer". I also have adult children with two different types of ADHD. My ex and I only recently learned about all of this when our son began going to therapy after losing his job back in October 2024. We've been having lots of discussions with him, some difficult but always revealing and cathartic. It helps me to connect with others. Thank you so much!
