When We're Dancing
Liner Notes
Sometimes inspiration just hits. That happened last Thursday when I stumbled across this video on Instagram. Here it is on YouTube:
Betty Wright and Peter Brown, absolutely killing it. The energy, the groove—it got me so fired up, I had to make a disco track.I borrowed some elements from Peter Brown, but trust me, this one is all mine. I love Disco, and I wanted to make something that felt like a true love letter to the genre. I went all in—strings, guitars, keys, bass, breakdowns, harmonies—the works. I'm almost at 14 songs now, so I pushed myself on the production. Did I get exactly what was in my head? Not quite. But am I proud of this? Absolutely.
And yeah, if you hear some Chic influence in there, you’re not imagining things. Nile Rodgers is one of my musical heroes, and his magic always sneaks its way in.
When I was working on this, I kept picturing those unreal dancing couples from Saturday Night Fever, gliding across the floor like they owned it. I even pulled up some videos from the movie to get in the zone. #disco #pop #pop #funk #keyboards #dance #dancing
Lyrics
Verse 1 What is it we have to lose Forget the rules You and I are here together And it’s almost two
Every second we are waiting Before the lights Stops us from the entertaining Let’s dance one more time
Chorus When we’re dancing time is still All that matters is the feel Hear the rhythm let it flow They are watching it’s our show
When we’re dancing in the groove On the floor is where we rule Every step we own the night In the spotlight taking flight
Verse 2 Now the lights and eyes are flashing We spin around Arch your back then you’re splitting Love from the crowd
We are coming to the finish Side by side Now the BeeGees song is ending As we slide
Breakdown When we’re dancing time is still When we’re dancing in the groove

Dude...this grooves!! The vocals are stellar here, the guitar is tasty as hell too. I'm definitely getting an earworm offa this one! That's a jam right there!
Another total bop. Love the bass line and the whole vibe. The chorus is an ear worm and will be in my head all day. Very fun listen!!
As I’m currently working on a similar track for my band, this is a pleasure to hear. The strings really nail it and the bass line is kicking! And I always have a soft spot for odes to the great late night out.
great work, has a nice clear tone and style. loving it!
