Let Me Die (Inspector Sands)
by @rshakesp
Liner Notes
the 11th song in my album '12 short nonsense songs about love' and this one deals with the obsessive type... I was waiting for a train in London the other day when the Inspector Sands announcement came over the Tannoy and I managed to grab it into a voice memo - it was too good not to use somewhere.
Lyrics
I can't have you anymore Not in my life Not in yours I love you so much you see I'd die for you If you want me
If you love me you'd let me die
Don't cry for me when I'm gone I'm not your lover I'm not the one Leave memory completely I'd die for you If you want me.

What a great seed for a song. I wonder who Inspector Sands really is?! They're certainly a very inclusion in the song. Along with the alarm effect, the announcement adds a fantastic air of menace and mystery. Really the crunchy riff and the chorus is banging. Definitely one an audience could really get their teeth into chanting. #tit4tat
A great character study, that's some powerful chorus too, the words (obviously) but the way you deliver it is really punchy - a keeper
This song kicks. It's catchy as hell. Great production with the Inspector Sands announcement. And thanks for sharing your thoughts on "Chesapeake Tides." I may do a wholesale rearrangement post-FAWM.
Ah the old Inspector Sands announcement, an absolute staple for those of us unlucky enough to have spent time travelling in the UK. It’s a lovely touch in an absolute diamond of a song! Really well-produced, and the plaintive ‘if you love me, let me die’ refrain is amazing (if a little harrowing). Really enjoyed this one!
Love the edgy quality of this track. Kind of fits with the dark lyrics. I'm wondering if Inspector sands is being called to go and deal with the body? A very memorable chorus adds to the songs impact. impressive. #tit4tat
