How We Get There

Liner Notes
During a casual conversation with one of my bandmates between the 2nd and 3rd set last Friday night, he said, "Were all dying, it's how we get there that's the point". I ask you, how could I not write this song? #ditty #folk #acoustic #mandolin #guywithguitar
Lyrics
Some folks run, some take it slow, Some ride the tide, some fight the flow. Some chase the gold, some chase the high, Some never ask the reason why.
Some burn bright, some fade away, Some waste their time, some seize the day. Some build walls, some build a bridge, Some stand strong, some walk the ridge.
We're all headed for the same last page, Ain’t no map, keep turning the page. The road ain't long, it sure ain't quick, But how we get there, that’s the trick.
Some make peace, some hold a grudge, Some let go, some stand and judge. Some love hard, some walk alone, Some call it house, some call it home.
Oh, the wind keeps changing, And the wheels still roll, It ain’t about the body, It’s all about the soul. The sun gonna set, The moon gonna rise, What’s left behind Well, that's the prize.
We're all headed for the same last page, Ain’t no map, keep turning the page. The road ain't long, it sure ain't quick, But how we get there, that’s the trick.
So walk it right, or dance it wrong, Sing your song before you're gone. Ain’t no rewind, no second spin, Just live it full before the end. Oh, just live it full before the end.

Love the mandolin tone and picking on this. You've found a great structure to build around a resonant title line.
I love your lyrics - you know I do Phil. The profound simplicity is what makes them work so well - and they scan so well too. I love your musical delivery. I'd love to come to one of your gigs - only trouble - you're about 8000 miles away and currently I don't have a passport. Never mind, I can make do with listening to your womderful music from afar. :-)
Well, there are a lot of songs I haven't gotten around to writing this month, but I agree that line you pretty much have to stop and do it now. Glad you did.....This feels like a song that has just always been around. Maybe written in the same session as The Big Rock Candy Mountain....Glad I've got a couple more weeks to catch up on your songs! So many lines I love, but that Walk it right or dance it wrong Sing your song section just feels like such a tender way to spend this last official day of FAWM. Glad you're here.
