I Can't Believe She Left Me (Modern Problems)
Liner Notes
Lyrics
Verse One:
The first time I laid eyes on her I knew I had to make her mine She looked so damn beautiful I thought it had to be a sign I used to love to show her off Their jealously was fun to see They’d gather to admire her But she’d come home with me
Chorus:
I can’t believe she left me I thought she’d always stay Can’t seem to move without her It’s like I’ve lost my way I shoulda treated her better Who knew she’d go away? I can’t believe she left me I’ll never be ok
Verse Two:
Had no complaints about her performance I could always get her revved up to go She seemed to like it when I pushed her buttons When things were rocky I’d take it slow I guess sometimes she was temperamental She wouldn’t always go where I wanted to I didn’t really put that much mileage on her But now it seems we’re through
[repeat chorus]
Bridge:
The guy at the dealership tried to warn me That this was a truck that could drive itself I shouldn’t have left the engine running I can’t blame this on anyone else I just don’t know what I was thinking Spending the money on an AV truck She’s prob’ly somewhere in California While I’m left here saying “what the . . . heck?”
Final chorus:
I can’t believe she left me I thought she’d always stay Can’t seem to move without her It’s like I’ve lost my way I shoulda treated her better Who knew she’d go away? I can’t believe she left me My brand new Chevrolet

Clever twist on modern country that always seems to have a lyric about a truck in it. Cut out the middle-man and you don't even need the love song to be about a girl. Oddly appropriate write for your username, too 😂
i love the twist---here I was, thinking it was a girl! LOL but no, a truck.
This has do many witty lines in one set of lyrics
"But she’d come home with me" is a nice line in this context (and not the only one). Fun lyrics.
