watch the illiterate burn down your libraries
Liner Notes
As is traditional by this point in FAWM, I've got loads of half finished songs on the go but nothing was really inspiring me, so I started something new, while setting myself limitations. I wanted to try to create an interesting arrangement just by using automation on a handful of basic parts.
The drums have a low pass filter that moves up and down at various points and the other parts have bits of volume and reverb automation on them.
Lyrics
another humble brag it's the last thing we need a wannabe demagogue what a thing to be try to have hope, my love it can't be easier to watch the illiterate burn down your libraries
in a world where nuance died we've dispensed with the grey we only see black and white and converse in cliche it's a slippery, slippery slope, my love and who knows where it ends what sins brought us to this place? is it too late to repent?

There's something so 80s that this track harkens back to. I can't put my finger on what it is exactly. Loving the mesmerizing, trippy vibes!
There is a trick for when you've got half-finished songs. Just smoosh them all together into one track and pretend that you've written a bridge. Things that are great about this song are: the way the percussion fades in and builds, the atmospheric sounds clanking around in the background, and your voice sounds really good in an understated way here.
Love the electronic feel and the build of the music on this song. I also really relate to the lyrics. Feels sad but poignant for the times!
That one repeated piano key really emphasizes the lyrics before it. Hammers it in if you will. A lot to think about in this song. Enjoyed listening to it
