Here's another song where I wrote the lyrics on a scrap piece of paper at work (Yesterday, Feb 24), let them stew & simmer for a bit, & then came up with some music (Today, Feb 25). This one certainly feels more like an intemission song - or perhaps even a coda song at the end of an album. Either way, it's short & sweet.
Vox & Strat. That's it. I ended up doing multiple takes (which isn't usually my M.O. 😠 ). This one was the last. I was starting to get frustrated. It's a simple song, but do you think I could get it right? Too much stress in my life right now, that's what I blame this on. But it's GEFF (Good Enough For FAWM), so I've FAWMed it. Oh well…

Lyrics
Decide what is wanted Before you take a step The path before you is dark The night inside you is free But the destination Is within reach
Simplify your expectations For the benefit of the mundane Modify your intentions To survive the day When the destination Is within reach

The rawness of the vocals is perfect for the raw emotion the controlled uncontrollable, the uncontainable used for higher purposes. I love the poetry of this. We often decide in the dark
Gah, that picture reminds me of being on vacation in Mexico and getting to descend into a cenote. It was pretty amazing, but it was also the most terrified I've ever been in my life. Like, unreasonable amounts of fear. You know they're supposed to be passages to the underworld? Anyway. Yeah, I'm liking the simplicity here. And no plectrum!!! Nicely done.
But those many takes resulted in an awesome take, so maybe they were simply the "practice" you and I have no patience for? 😀 I "practiced" too for my last one, and it was frustrating. 😆 You need to rest a little and then come back to this. Then you'll realize it is really sweet.
Really liked it, agree with your coda statement, like it could be a final epilogue track to a larger work, almost like a leave taking.
So contemplative and calming! Love that steady rhythm guiding us through. Your vocals soar! Those lyrics, "Simplify your expectations for the benefit of the mundane", hit really hard. Great work here!

I like this song. It feels very 70s rock in a good way.
