Singer/Songwriter from Ontario. Primarily a vocalist and writer, though I plink at piano and dabble in DAW's.
Finished my 2nd FAWM! So grateful for the experience again, and glad to have survived it! I put the album up on Bandcamp: https://antiexit.bandcamp.com/album/house-on-the-hill-short-stories-iii
My goal last year was to finally put together and record a trilogy of albums through 50/90 and this FAWM, and I'm relieved that I actually did it. I think I'm taking a break from music for awhile, especially with Life & Job Stuff coming up. I have vague plans for next FAWM, but after going hard this year, I'm fine if I can't manage it.
This project was different for me, because up until now I've primarily been a proprietor of the Concept Album; My old, janky, poorly-mixed work was usually a veil for real feelings, sure, but the veil was all dolled up in fiction and fakery. My "Big Idea" (if one could call it that) was to try to be as authentic and truthful as possible. Or, translated, "Just Write Songs". So instead I wrote a concept album trilogy about myself. Go figure. Once an obnoxious writer, always an obnoxious writer! I'm happy I did it, though. There was a large gap of my life that I never wrote about, despite having plenty of fuel to do it.
Thanks to everyone on here who does what they do for the love of the artform. Last year I was in a really bad place. Discovering FAWM saved me and kicked my ass back into music. Your collective passion is palpable and infectious, and now as MALM comes I'm excited to dig in as deep as I'm able to to hear what everyone's been up to!
Here is my album from last FAWM: https://antiexit.bandcamp.com/album/insomniac
Here are the two albums I wrote for 50/90, the first two parts of the Short Stories Trilogy: https://antiexit.bandcamp.com/album/memory-ln-short-stories-i

Hey thank you for your comments on my song The Wrong Life. It was in fact fiction (from my point of view, although it has been the experience of some). I'm really pleased it came across as authentic.
Thank you so much for attending my listening parties and leaving such excellent comments on many of my songs. it was a pleasure to meet you at the listening parties and your comments added a lot to the experience. i havent herd any of your music yet but will remedy that now, with a deep dive into your fawm output.
Thanks a lot for your comments! I think it's a good sign when people get lost in music and forget commenting. Hitting the replay button is always a good idea :) I just sent "Caoineag" to the distributor, and it will drop end of this month with a shorter radio friendly version. I still can't believe it just happened during the comments first challenge. Feel free to try this next year. You may end up with experimental crap or great songs, definitely worth a try! All instruments on "Into The Abyss" are programmed. I am still a beginner on guitar, so I definitely can't nail 150 BPM of shredding... But we're working on a real instrument version after FAWM. I will reply your tit4tat in the next couple of days. Still catching up on replying my soundboard and fixing some stems... plus backups. A bit here and there.
Ah what happened to your old SoundCloud account? I just followed your new one.
Thanks for the comments: yes, RPM/REM has similar sensibilities, doesn't it?! I like the listening parties -- the way of presenting something to an audience in this way has a different 'pressure' c.f. FAWM. I'm not so keen on Discord. I have little idea what's going on or the etiquette (I probably just need to practice more 🙂).
That is so kind of you to say!! Mixing is my weakness--I am still learning lots. Your encouragement means a lot to me. Thank you very much!
Congrats to you too! Awesome job this year! Its always so much fun hearing what you're working on and chatting about things. Thank you for all your kind comments and encouragement and advice this month!
Hey! I sent ya a message through your band camp to keep in touch and maybe collab sometime. If you’re down, my email is on my profile. Let me know!
oh my goodness, thank you for listening to my songs this year and for your kind remarks -- and for adding me to the recommendations thread! 🥹 I'm so behind on listening and commenting, but I'm excited to hear your stuff! You were definitely one of my top 3 FAWM discoveries last year. <3
Brandon, thanks so much for your generous support and encouragement. It means a lot that you plan and take the time to listen to all of my tracks. Your feedback is very important and appreciated. Thanks for also recommending Harry Wasn’t Too Busy on the recommendations forum. I’ll be following you on Bandcamp and still have a few of your tracks to listen. Hope you come back in the first two weeks of March to read the comments. Cheers and stay well!
@micklove keep making music, and keep sharing it. Your work is amazing, and you've got a great sense of atmosphere! I haven't listened to your final two yet (I'll find the time!), but I bet they're great. I'm self taught too! Nowhere near the same amount of bands (or any), but all comes from somewhere, right? It means a lot when another creative type "gets" your work. I don't care about fame, I just need to breathe. It's comforting to hear others who need the same thing. Thanks for listening, and thanks for sharing.
Just wanted to thank you for all the love and comments. Thought the least I could do was return the favor and listen to all of yours. All the feedback means a lot. I'm self taught and have been at it for around 7 years now. I've been in a few bands, but this was my first time sharing any music I've written and recorded on my own. So I'm really happy you enjoyed it, gives me inspiration to keep doing the damn thing.
thanks for listening...you done it 😎
@eamarant by all means, steal it lol. It was a nightmare to do, especially with the gd harmonies, so I'd love to see more people David Lynch it up in this business. That's why I left the phonetic lyrics in the description, because otherwise it'd seem like I didn't put in the strange amount of work required for a minute long track, lol
Thank you so much for going through my songs and leaving all those thoughtful and very encouraging comments! Made my day! Also, that backwards track you linked is impressive. I have absolutely no idea how you had to pronounce those words to get them to sound like actual english when played backwards. What a fun and cool idea! Really want to steal it haha
A huge, loud, #OhCanada coming back at you, Brandon. My 7th song (not quite ready to post to FAWM yet) is called, Dear America (it's like a break-up letter). I hope I can capture the sadness AND the anger.
Thanks! Not sure it was meant to be funny, this time... but you gotta laugh sometimes
thank you for liistening.and comment...made my day...you crackin on great
Hey, Brandon. That's what I'm here for. To make nuclear destruction danceable 😂 - Glad you liked, Duck and Cover.
Thanks for the feedback on "Waiting"!
Hey! thanks for all the listening time you spent on my profile, I appreciate your comments and valuable descriptions a lot. Super helpful!
Hello, Brandon. Thank you for stopping by for "In Its Time" I am always happy to see a comment. 😀
hello again brandon,
nice to see you again. after last year's FAWM i listened to all your FAWM tracks on soundcloud and left a few comments - i hope they made sense, LOL.
anyway, thank you for your recent kind comments and support. my music has very little appeal, sot it's always cool to find an appreciative listener such as yourself...
((oh, and that you got the silent hill vibes made me extremely happy - akira yamaoka is my hero))
Thank you so much for all your kind words and encouragement! It means a lot to me! For the ambient "depth" there's a few things I tend to do. For "Stars" specifically I just put the "cathedral" reverb directly on the tracks (I do this a lottt, usually between 5-50% wet depending on what I'm going for). Other things I've found helpful for depth in ambient is using some sort of foundation like a drone or noise sample, dabbling with the widener on the utility function, stacking a bunch of effects, running certain tracks through paulxstretch, using non-music "textures", and track panning. I also tend to mess with settings if I'm using a stock sound. I hope some of this might be helpful!
I've been loving what you've posted so far! Its supposed to be really bleak weather wise next week and I'm kinda excited for it cause certain music just hits harder (yours included!) Your production is amazing as always, it blows me away how finished your songs sound! Really impressive especially on the FAWM timeline. Maybe sometime we could get together and swap Ableton ideas? Let me know! I hope you're doing well & I'm excited to hear what you've been cooking up!
Waking up to your comments made my day, I feel very seen and the bands you mentioned are all very important and influential to me. I hold your words dear and I appreciate your thoughtful listening!
Thank you for taking a listen to The Cruelty and your very kind words. Hoping I can find inspiration that isn't always Trump-focussed, but I suppose I should just accept whatever comes along :)
Thanks for your thoughtful comments on Drawn Onward (or should I just call it, Fuck If I Know?) It was fun to do and very liberating to sing :) Cheers!
Thanks for your message on Sell The Difference. Hoping I can pull it off this year.
I felt congested and didn't want to wake my family by singing loudly this morning this morning on 'Fierce Independence' so I really really appreciated you kind comment on that one. I was under a time crunch and thought "eff it, I can delete it later or replace the demo if I want" but I think I will leave it as the simple groggy thing it is.
Not quessing out of context, on the contrary. Ukulele is usually the first sign of a that FAWMer that tries to get 17 songs out in the first day just to impress with numbers. But it's all about the happy accidents, make them feel even more special.
Thanks for your comment on "Empty Chair". It was much appreciated.
Thanks for the comment, fellow Castlevania fan!
hi there!! thanks for the sweet comments on my tunes—loving the tracks you've shared so far and look forward to keeping up with you thru out the month ᵔᴥᵔ
AND you're in Ontario like me? Well hello new friend.
Thank you for the comments! I'm looking forward to your next track!
Thanks for your comments on my track!
Thanks for your welcome and kind words on my song Resurrection. I'm actually not a FAWling this is #4 for me. Listened to some of your Soundcloud stuff. LIKE! Live out in Alberta and BC for 12 years so I' got a wee bit of Canada in me
Hi Brandon, thanks for your comment on my bigger fish song. I’m intrigued by your bio of concept albums and look forward to hearing what you write this year.
Hi!! Thank you, and same to you! Rlly looking forward to hearing what you come up with this year!
Thanks for your comments on my song "Uncle Sid" - gotta keep his spirit alive somehow - I heard so many wonderful stories about him as a child
