Liner Notes
ZeCoop: Last weekend was kind of a breakthrough for me, as I felt like I finally hit my stride. Even though I've been writing, recording and posting, it seemed like a struggle every day. But last weekend when I pulled out my Jazzmaster with the intent to write some big songs, they actually came with ease. I ended up with two really big, epic songs (and some smaller ones). This one was a huge, full on shoegaze fuzz-fest and was really fun to put together. I really wanted to collaborate with Vom but knew it was late in FAWM for such a big challenge. But wow - he really pulled lyrics and vocals as big as the song out of his hat! It is a BEAST to mix and I am sure I'll be doing a lot of revisions, but here's what I got done tonight. Cheers Vom - you truly rocked it!!
VV: I've had this title kicking around for a couple of weeks but couldn't find a way in, turns out all I needed was ~6 minutes of fuzz to turn it into a full set of lyrics. "Let's Take an Intermission" was also on my list of titles to use so I hope I don't regret chucking it in here! The melody that the lyrics demanded is in an awkward range for me and the jumps into falsetto are way out of my comfort zone... thankfully the genre is forgiving, although a few bits still make me wince a little š¬ thanks for the push to try new things, ZC!

Lyrics
when youāre thinking I can feel the vibrations itās not a psychic power, just a strange sensation it doesnāt feel like communication weāre speaking different languages, lost in translation
nobody really sees things the same we lose ourselves in other peopleās brains weāll never really know each other itās beautiful and strange what goes on in other peopleās brains other peopleās brains other peopleās brains
when we dream I pick up transmissions eyelids flicker, satellites move into position minds in orbit, in unconscious condition seconds out, letās take an intermission
nobody really knows the rules of the game thereās mystery in other peopleās brains we close our eyes and vanish itās beautiful and strange what goes on in other peopleās brains other peopleās brains other peopleās brains
when weāre gone, will anyone remember? the way the world would feel like we were at its centre once the lines are broken, return to sender a cloud of sparks reduced to dying embers
nobody really knows pleasure from pain thereās only darkness in other peopleās brains everything will disappear itās beautiful and strange what goes on in other peopleās brains other peopleās brains other peopleās brains

Love that effect drenched sound. It could be a rock band, but who know in the melange of sounds. One thing I love about collabs is how it draws people into things they don't usually do, and I felt that when the vocal moves into the chorus, there's this classic shoegaze ethereal melody that has unusual intervals compared to Vom's solo stuff, and it works really well. The harmonies there are flipping great too. A veritable cathedral of sound.
Another one I missed commenting on despite going back to listen several times. And it really does reward multiple hearings. I think youāre underselling your vocals here Tom, the flip into head voice is perfectly used and really works well for the genre. The harmonies on āother peopleās brainsā is great. I love the trippy lyrics and everything contributes to that lovely shoegaze mind expansion.
Super spacey wall of sound, I like it! The harmonic movements in the chords are really cool. And of course nailed it with the vocals
A swirl of sound that turns into a whirlpool I'd gladly get sucked into. Love how the notes all come together on the title phrase. Brings to mind Love & Distance-era Helio Sequence, one of my favorite groups.
oooo yes, listen to the size of those guitars. I am totally back in the minds eye of one of my fav bands from their early days. The verve. This is definitely up there with one of my favs this FAWM and will make me go back to some of that massive guitar groove tunes. Tom truly captures the feel with those effected floaty yet powerful lyrics and melodies. Thank you guys for tipping me to wanting to create something MASSIVE
I was expecting something about Zombiesā¦
Yeah wall of sound! Reverb and delay. The bass is having some fun and really moves the song along. To me this is reminiscent of a trippy Lennon Beatles tune.
The chord changes on āother peopleās brainsā I LOVE it! Would belt that hook in the car if I had this to stream. Really enjoyed all the sound textures and ethereal vocals. Great listen š
Wowwww those huge guitars! The bassline gives it a lovely grounding under the wall of reverby guitar noise. Beautiful lyrics and I love the melody, the vocal is buried just enough for the style. I was going to write a favorite line but I started calling out every one of them, oops!
Love this! Favorite lyrics, āWe close our eyes and vanish itās beautiful and strange what goes on in other peoples brainsā
Totally how I listen to Shoegaze, and totally how I feel listening to this. Taken by the sound, totally immersed. Great work!
Hell yes! Shoegaze!!! The reverb on the vocals is great. I love all the shoegaze guitars - a Jazzmaster lends itself to that genre. It's so satisfying to bend the chords. You both create a cool 90s, British vibe here. Well done!
What a beeeeeast! I've never heard Vom's vocals treated in such a way, it works really nicely, and those jumps up to falsetto are really cool and powerful. The fuzzy production is excellent, such a wall of sound yet with clarity for each instrument. I feel like that vocal melody is a certain mode but I'm not which...
That is like the Dead Sea of fuzz. You could just float on that all day long, couldn't you? Loving the arrangement - the guitars sound amazing. And I really really like the vocal phrasing in the chorus. It knits in with the music seamlessly. Might well have a new earworm for the commute home!
Oh wow I did not expect such a big production. A sonic explosion! The lyrics and vocals are a perfect fit for the fuzz. The lead / breakdown with the whammy is so cool.I have absolutely no idea how to create these sounds and you did so well.
That wall. of. sound. Hell yes! the floaty vocals and harmonies are so cool against this backdrop! Loving all the fuzz
I love it. I love the wash of reverb and the Lords of the Stratosphere vibe! I do wish the vocal was more out in front. And @vomvorton just write the "let's take an intermission" song. You can either think of it as the beginning of a concept album, or imagine future fans discussiong your recurring themes....
class guys, super song, that distant feel, like you are watching it all happen. the music is so solid and interesting and the vox just drifts over it.
I must take note of how fantastic a Jazzmaster sounds through fuzz. You reverb game is on point! This sounds amazing.
eyelids flicker, satellites move into position minds in orbit, in unconscious condition seconds out Wonderful imagery
Love how this just washes over you. I feel enveloped in a world of sound. Love the drone-y elements. Every little piece is memorable and they all fit together fantastically.
