Les métiers (the jobs you like)

by @ambroise · @johnnycashpoint

Liner Notes

Ambroise: They made a documentary in my local university about social precariousness among students. One of the student said she would soon be able to support her family back. The only trouble is the jobs she would like to take don’t pay well. I could relate to that. Thank you @johnnycashpoint for your bass !

Lyrics

(english translation below)

We've gone through your references Analyzed all your skills Listed your desires your requirements

Our algorithms have done their job Without a doubt your situation Leaves you only two options to choose from

The jobs you like pay little Those that are necessary or concerned To be useful to everyone at least a little

If one want to make a lot of money One just need to choose cynically An indecent salary and the according ethic

I definitely feel this, from reading the English translation! I love these jazzy guitar chords you're playing. And locrian! Damn. This is awesome.

This is a fun arrangement. I like the rhythm, little pauses and the delivery. I really love listening to the French version and I also feel like the English translation reads well like a lyric that could be sung too (which is not always the case with translations of lyrics.) and yes, oh so true for most artistic folks especially. Haha. 🙌🎶

I used to listen to some french music cause I found it soothing. This just brought a whole lot of memories back. And yes this topic is very relatable. #tit4tat

The unsettled mode fits very nicely with the angsty theme, as does the vocal delivery. It reminds me of driving with my son who likes French language (and Cypriot 😐) radio when travelling (don't ask) -- though usually more "euro-pop" than the edgy, jazzish number you and j$ have created.

I like the sound palette too: the fuzzed guitar cuts through nicely and the harmonica has nicely rounded, circular dynamics (hope that makes sense).

Quite challenging to compose in the Locrian mode, but this came out sounding great. The lyrics are well done and relate a sad but true story. Great job with this.

Nice chunky lead guitar! Very, very thick tone. I like the offbeat jazzy rhythm and the naturalness of the vocal performance. Very clever lyrics!

I find it very hard to write in locrian. This scale seems to unstable you'd probably end up in phygrian. But you managed to write something very jazzy

"Accorder cyniquement ma morale a un salaire indécent" tres jolie phrase pour une triste vérité. Cela clot parfaitement la chanson!

“Il suffit d’accorder cyniquement Ma morale à un salaire indécent”.

That is so true. Love the choppy rhythm on the guitar and nice touch with the harmonica in the bridge. 😎
