So, I missed my "Experiment" skirmish, thought maybe I'd do it late, and reread what I wrote in the longer section of the prompt, which led to thinking about science and magic. My silly brain, instead of wandering toward a mad scientist (or weird wizard) doing an experiment, or any of the million cool science stories that I've read about, wandered here.

And then, somehow, to cake. Naturally, I have no cake, but maybe in my dreams I'll find some, once I (finally) get this posted.

This is me and the guitar I call Grin Reaper, plus my new cahon and my smaller Idiopan steel drum.

Each culture chooses differently how to view what’s real To put faith in skilled creations or just to make a deal All approaches work sometimes, and sometimes just seem fake

The laws of the universe are mysteries, after all Thinking we know everything just leads to a downfall So, I won’t try to pick just one, instead I’ll have some cake.

I love where your brain took you. Funny where our neurons land up lighting up. Love your instrumentation and gorgeous voice! I really enjoyed the way you describe the various approaches one might use in trying to comprehend lifes mysteries. You make loving room for all to explore. I like your use of 7th chords here, gives a slight jazzy vibe, together with the steel drum there are some interesting major/minor shifts. The last line is a nice comic relief after all the pondering, and what better word to rhyme with take/make/fake?

The steel drum resonates remarkably well; adding to the list of novel instruments FAWM has thrown my way this year (I think I'd already had cahon on another Fawmers track!).

There's a nice duality to the writing, putting both sides' arguments across. I didn't see the punchline coming! -- a welcome solution to pondering the unknown unknowns. 🙂

Pondering a deep mystery indeed Deirdre! The scientist would say they have experimented, but the spiritualist would say that the universe you experimented in is not the same minute to minute, so what does you experimentation prove about the future really? I agreed, lets just have some cake. Salted caramel and date for me.
