On the Wire

Skirmish: On the wire (@rinwolf)Liner Notes
I had this prepared within the hour, but I felt that as I had written another anti-war song earlier today with an acoustic backing, this one deserved more of a rock show. So, out came Band in a Box and I plugged in my acoustic with a pick up.
Instrument: Baton Rouge Parlour Guitar with a Deltoluxe Pick Up Backing by Band in a Box
Lyrics
(F#m) Dark clouds on the horizon I (E) think we're in for rain (D) Maybe it'll wash away The (F#m) remains of the bloodstains It won't be the last time We'll (E) come under heavy fire Witness (D) out there in no man's land The (F#m) corpses on the wire
(Bm) No dignity is left If there can (F#m) be no funeral pyre For the (D) scarecrows and the skeletons (E) Hanging out upon the (F#m) wire
(F#m) It's probably a video game For (E) those controlling the drones They can't (D) hear the cries of agony They are (F#m) deaf to all the moans While they're buzzing around up there (E) High above our heads There is (D) no way that we could risk Going (F#m) out there for our dead
CHORUS
(F#m) The rain is getting heavy So there's less (E) chance of an attack The (D) drones are flying home But when it (F#m) stops they will be back It's our independence That we're (E) out here to defend But (D) who knows the price that we will pay To bring this (F#m) conflict to an end
CHORUS

this takes the prize for the strongest, most vivid war song of the year. the lyrics describe to perfection the horror of war from a single person's perspective. fantastic chorus sums it up with the image of "scarecrows and the skeletons Hanging out upon the wire." and always, through every not of the song, is the feeling that while there maybe moments wherein the onslaught is alleviated, the war will never end.
Some pretty strong images here, like the days of trench warfare but with drones overhead. War technology changes, but the bottom line is still the dead who were once someone's family or friend. I really like your electric sound.
I like the strategy of mood first, then message. Strong music lifts up the hard-hitting chorus.
A great war song encompassing modern war drones love the last 4 lines : It's our independence That we're (E) out here to defend But (D) who knows the price that we will pay To bring this (F#m) conflict to an end
Timely and relevant. I like the folk rock feel. The drive and rhythms are perfect for the lyric. Such a compelling contemporary song. I wish it were about a video game and not world happenings. Great sound as always.
