The sound is very much reminding me of REM. That jangly guitar sound is great. I like the inclusion of the slower breakdown too. Well produced and I very much enjoyed my listen.

This is a great example of coming up with a very appealing, catchy song, with what almost appears to be placeholder lyrics--or perhaps just oddball lyrics. Or let's just say a song with a lyrical subject that you don't hear very often. Either way, it's all in how you deliver it, and this is very well delivered. Operation successful!
