Chaotic Kitten Energy

Here's some fun utter noise to tie this FAWM off with a bow. This is something I had in mind for some months, but I did no actual work on this until a few days ago.

About one and a half years ago, my wife and I adopted Selena, our younger cat. She was four months old back then, and she has held my heart firmly in her fuzzy paws from the moment I first saw her. She adored toys from the first moment on, she's a velcro kitteh, and I guess I don't need to explain how much chaos a four-month-old kitten can cause. If you can't imagine yet: listen to this piece.

Selena has now grown into a giant (and she might still be growing; she's a very large breed), but she still has chaotic kitten energy.

I also got the prompt "Playful" from the Oracle challenge, which I took as an invitation to just mess around – besides, "playful" also characterizes our sweet little kitten very well!

This piece is entirely coded in SuperCollider. I borrowed some approaches for sound design and rhythms from Nathan Ho, namely accelerating rhythms: https://nathan.ho.name/posts/accelerating-rhythms/

Selena as from the moon ? That is quite the right name for a lunatic song ! And the oracle challenge now that I think of it ! Maybe there's no coincidence, there... What a fun tune ! I especially love the choir of meow and purrrr. But the reste is also very cinematic : I visualized a kitten runing on a piano (keys and strings) and there's definitely a bottle being knocked and spilled. I feel like after seing a video of kitten doing WTF... Thanks !

Not only this piece is super creative, but it is also a wonderful tribute to cross-species love and companionship. I was a chaotic kitten, I kind of recognize myself in the sounds here. The feline voices are too cute and charming. Awesome catcore track, very avant-garde (as any catcore stuff should be, when you think about it). Really enjoyed listening to it. ❤️

What great kitty voices! This jumping from the thing to another with such intensity does feel familiar, and that purr at the end says why the chaos is worth it.
