Vince says: I am so glad, I found @javakat343 here on FAWM. At first, I heard her a capella. I was impressed how she went from a fragile tone to that strong voice and back. Now that we've worked together on two songs I am even more impressed. Just listen how intense it gets when she comes to the chorus! She is such a talented singer! It is such a great track. I really can't wait until we have mixed it properly.
Java Says: I never imagined that Vince would take this song one of my absolute favorite places. I asked for an intricate guitar melody to pair with the vocals and he absolutely blew me away!
Here are some of the notes I took when writing the song:
"Structure and theme:
Trip-hop genre
Written when listening to Airbag by Radiohead. Use same key. Think about utalizing similar textured background guitar motif
Dynamic growth throughout song:
sparse in verse ( Base from Gloybox by Portishead will fit the 4 count)
Growing layers in pre chorus (Use electronic textures, think Massive attacks tear drop)
Dynamic and powerful at chorus
Use mandolin/guitar motifs similar to You Were There (from Ico) or Airbag (Radiohead)"
Lyrics
I don't watch the news, so I have the capacity to pay my dues It's a priority to give my time and patience to the friends that need
A little room to breath, A little room to grieve I’ll meet you down here in the empathy
A quiet beat to give reverence to the needs That we have as humans when we’re processing:
How to be How to see How to feel How to heal
I don't watch the news, so I have the capacity to pay my dues It's a priority to give my time and patience to the friends that need
A little room to breath, A little room to grieve I’ll meet you down here in the empathy
A quiet beat to give reverence to the needs That we have as humans when we’re processing
You wont You wont You wont

This was very powerful, especially in those “how to” parts. I really enjoyed your take on empathy. Beautiful your melodies and the music goes so lovely with your pretty, clear voice!
I like the melodic lines you build here - major and minor in pairs creates a great feel to kick off with that pairs so well with the positive negative of the lyric. I like the sparse percussive instrumentation of the verse and how it breaks out into the strings and droning bass in the chorus. Passionate and engaging performance.
This is GREAT! I like the way it builds, and all the intricacies of the mix. I also was impressed with your notes while you were writing the song, how you were able to provide specifics of the feel you wanted. @vince_link really delivered on that. Great collab!
