Prompt: Nightmare or daymare, or daydream or nightdream. Thank's @wylddandelyon, for this prompt and all of the wonderful ones you've given. This was a fun flight of whimsy for my granddaughters.
Lyrics
I dream about a night mare, A mare of midnight black, With her mane cascading to the ground, That I could ride bareback.
She'd be an elegant Friesian, With feathers on her hooves, Like the ones that carry princesses In all the fairytale books.
Chorus: She shows up in my nightdreams, And in my daydreams too. I've always dreamed about her. I mean, really, wouldn't you?
I'd ride her near the ocean, In mountains and up hills. I'd take her onto trail rides, It'd give me such a thrill.
I'd ride her slow on cobblestones Just to hear her clippy-clop. I'd ride her round the show ring Until I had to stop.
Chorus: She shows up in my nightdreams, And in my daydreams too. I've always dreamed about her. I mean, really, wouldn't you? Really, Wouldn’t you?

I have long wanted a Friesian, though as a child I had never heard of them and wanted a winged palomino. I saw a ring full of about 30 Friesians once in a show in Kentucky and it was glorious. Now my dreams are just to find a quiet horse and get back out on trails as you describe, after two hip replacements. Thank you for how you used this prompt.

Takes me back to my long ago horse riding days. I rode a small black half- thoroughbred called Brigette. She had a foul temper and used to try to bite her riders lol. So more the nightmare type lol. Cheers

I loved the word play on the nightmare, night mare. Very cool. Very vivid descriptio, full of whimsy! There is an inherent rhythm to these lyrics. Very nice!

Really cool lyric and well-crafted. You have a great sense of structure and form in your lyrics that I know requires extra time to refine. Nice work!
Your words got me curios about the etymology of the word 'nightmare'. It's pretty interesting. Look it up if you haven't already. :-)

Oh this has such a lovely magical dreamlike quality that is perfect for the skirmish. I love the images you evoke as well as the hope, beauty, and freedom you convey! It flows beautifully! And lovely play on words as well!

A lovely little twist! I can imagine singing this to a little kid who's feeling a bit scared and might feel better with a beautiful, friendly horse to dream of.
