Liner Notes
More #unfinished stuff just under the wire. The demo wouldn't export properly, and then real life insisted I go see 15 bands and drink heavily for the weekend, so here we are.
For a song that's taken a lot of work I was surprised my lyrics are kinda janky, and in the end I thought it was better to upload the demo without my pretty basic lyric choices. You get a few backing vocals though. Definitely one to continue working on. Fawm was fun!

so much cool stuff in this, shades of Prefab Sprout in the way in which it's so hooky and pop while also containing an absolute ton of left turns and diversions. Production incredible throughout (stereo-field use/panning in particular is great) and the vocals that have stayed in sound great. Really enjoyed this
Ahhh gaawd, this is so good. So many amazing elements, twists and turns, hooks, tones, the whole damn lot. Anya has it right with the Steely Dan vibe, some Beatles in there as well (and not just kit panned one way later on). I'm even getting a city pop vibe. The transitions between parts are so good. I love in that first 50 seconds or so, I've barely any idea what is making each sound. The key change that hits at the end of each line is glorious. That sorta 'um-pah' rhythm guitar that's wide pans left and right is so cool. SUPERLATIVES!
The other comments break down the myriad paths to excellence you've followed. Let me just add that I freaking love everything here, including those "janky" lyrics. But then again, I have a high tolerance for provocation, nonsense, mystery, and non-sequitur. Dang, 15 bands and heavy drinking and still kicking all kinds of ass
This was the one I described to Paul as “frickin Steely Dan” (complimentary). Largely on the production which knocked my socks off. Some amazing stuff here: that drum sound at the beginning is so wild. The BVs are superb. All of the keyboards are excellent and strange and contribute to this sense of destabilising force that the lyrics suggest. I’m willing to bet that the lyrics you ditched were good, probably just need a small tweak. Very good. Now finish it please xx
Great vibe, and the backing vocals definitely give a glimpse of something awesome to come. I'm not going to lie a lot of my focus was on the bassline because it's killer! I agree with the comment about the chord choices as well, and the lead at the end almost has a bit of a Josh Homme tone to it which is pretty great in my ears.
I don't know why but this gives me strong Yes vibes transported into don't-no-how-to-call-it land. Very cool to listen to. Would like to hear how it further develops
Hell yeah, this is great even without a lead vocal (although I'd love to hear it with one, basic choices or not!) - the clattery drum loop that opens it is a great way to hook the listener, and there are so many sweet, jazzy chord choices and irresistible synth melodies. Some really nice Stereolab vibes in places but with plenty of your own unique touch.
I mean given the option seeing 15 bands sounds good to me.
I really like this piece of music. I wish I could think out arrangements like this! Very cool.
I like the feel of the ocean of instruments and the rafts of vocals. It’s like seeing them from far away and getting to make up stories about how they got there and whether they want to be rescued. With that music, I’m thinking they might prefer to keep floating.
