Lyrics
Thought that I had something to say But then all of my words, they Didn’t come out right
Now I will be going away To a very far place Where I won’t be found
And nobody now Can hold it over me ‘Cause I won’t make a sound
I can see my little light now fading Flickering and sparking up a flame It’s futile Running with my knees pulled up I just go on rolling Remembering life before my light was stolen
Thought that I had something to say But then all of my words, they Didn’t come out right
Is this what I deserve? Wish I had more nerve Would’ve put up a fight
Doesn’t take a reason to swerve When the long road curves Don’t look back, just drive
I can see my little light now fading Flickering and sparking up a flame It’s futile Running with my knees pulled up I just go on rolling Remembering life before my light was stolen
Mm.. Aah, Aah Aah, Aah, Aah, Aah Let the words come out I let the words come out
Come on out Come on out– Aah, Aah, Aah, Aah Aah, Aah, Aah, Aah
Finally... Cause I have sh*t to say...

That is quite a catchy tune you made here. Love the delivery with just the Uke and voice!
Brilliantly catchy and you've absolutely nailed the delivery!
There's something about heavy lyrics being sung over a sunny musical backing that just enchants me and your song enchants me. Also, I'm getting David Byrne vibes from your vocal delivery, which is nice. kudos!
This is the great thing an ukulele can do: have a cheerful, major key song with contemplative lyrics which belie the feeling of the chords. Great lyrics, singing and playing. Really like this.
Agree with the comments about how eloquent you are with your words in the lyric and then juxtaposition it with ‘thought I had something to say…my words they didn’t come out right’. Like all the ‘ing’ words choices in the chorus as well, which create a beautiful flowing melody. Fab ending as well - your voice sounds great when you let it fly at the end, and the I have shit to say is a nice touch of realism to end on
Incredibly catchy, that chorus melody is a singalong ready to go, and so boppy for a secretly not so sad in the end song. Lovely!
Awesome! I love it when a song is mostly sad but is a little optimistic at the end 😎
I love a cheerful-sounding ukulele song that is actually not cheerful 😀 Great hook, instantly catchy with these lightning-fast lyrics. Just delightful
This is so sweet. I love the quality of your voice too. I also love that you’re singing “thought I had something to say” and then you express an experience so beautifully. Very nice :)
That chorus is killer! I always love the way you balance heaviness in lyrics with the lightness of the melody and uke accompaniment, and this is no exception. Really excellent!
"Remembering life before my light was stolen" – damn but that's a powerful line. I really like this. (Big fan of that chord progression here, too!)
I like this very much, for basically the same reasons that TC in his comment mentioned- that combo of the heavy lyric and the light delivery really works well, and its wonderfully melodic and life affirming in its own darkness, if you know what I mean. great job!
I can identify with the first stanza so much (at times) it's amazing. Great opening. I like the chorus very much. The truly downer lyrics to a happy/lilting melody gives me a pure "No, I'm fine, it's only a mortal wound" vibe that is effective for me. The way you sing "Remembering life before my light was stolen" is almost a betrayal in and of itself, a microcosm of the song, saying one thing, singing in another manner and making me feel something different entirely. I was truly not expecting this but I like it.
I also love this chord progression! Love your vocal delivery and yay for the uke accompaniment!
