Liner Notes

This song is for the #CommentsFirst challenge (https://write.fawm.org/forums/3025). It doesn't exist yet. It will be written based on the first few comments it receives. Please leave a comment below!

This is ideal for me as I will be traveling on a plane and not home until late tonight, so I hope will be happily surprised by lovely comments. Looking forward to this! ========================================== Well , this did not happen!

Coming home from holiday, our flight was delayed, and we sat in the departure lounge for 9 hours. Busy place, hot and noisy. Very congested . But I had WIFI, so I could read the comments before I got on the plane. I made some #VoiceMemos on my phone, and wrote down lines to incorporate into a song.#Garageband PS> IT IS NOT 7 MINUTES< but I did not know how to make the recording shorter, and in the process I lost it altogether, so this is what I have. ends at 3:30.

Lyrics

Speaker Static

Verse 1: Tick… tick… waiting on the gate line Clock’s laughing, running out of my mind Voice on the speaker, crackling, droning "Flight’s been delayed," man, ain't that just golden?

Chorus: Speaker static, white noise panic Trapped in a loop, can't understand it Endless waiting, suffocating This jet ain't ever taking off!

Verse 2: Rows of zombies, staring at their phones Overpriced coffee, cold to the bone Another excuse, another "soon" This tin can's never leaving the room

Bridge ("Attention passengers...") Ladies and gentlemen, we regret to inform you Another delay, we’re stuck in this tomb Please stay seated, please stay numb Your patience is appreciated...[yeah, right]

Chorus Speaker static, white noise panic Trapped in a loop, can't understand it Endless waiting, suffocating This jet ain't ever taking off!

("We appreciate your patience...") I don't, I won’t, I'm done, I’m gone

The title static and overlapping muffled voices, plus of course that distinctive ding? I'm right there in the plane now. The clear mandolin solo was like getting to stretch my legs.

well, this is certainly relatable! although it reminds me of a flight where the were delays and delays and delays and then a cancellation and when i went to the agent to try and figure out what to do she said i was the only person who had been nice to her all day so she gave me free food vouchers and a comped hotel. anyway, congrats on pulling all these pieces together into a fun listen! the mandolin jam was a highlight for me as well...

Ha! Great song. Do I understand you did a field recording in the airport? Love it! Very funky rocky organ underneath real makes it. Well recorded with all the elements present and the important lyrics still nice and clear. Good job!

The plane ambiance in the background is really cool. I like how it fades too so we can hear the jazzy keys.

Woo, this is awesome, Linda! That eletric piano is lovely, and I love the solo! And what a clever way of using the airport sounds, it creates the perfect ambiance! Amazing job!

Linda I never thought you would use such bad language in a song

I love hearing the mandolin 😍 And beautiful vocals-- so many octaves!

I love how the song builds up so much energy, and then it drops to an acoustic solo. Was not expecting that, but it works really well! I love it!

I've never hear you sing rock before. It's a nice change to stretch yourself!

I really like the harmony vocal. That's a great touch.
