Sleeping Dog Rag
by @kludge
Liner Notes
This little ditty came to me while driving. I kept humming it to myself until I could stop and hum it into a voice memo, then I worked it out on guitar.
Little sound at the end is the sleeping dog next to me waking up and running off for some other adventure.

I'd like your sheet music to this, I'd like to try it on the keyboard.
Definitely a cute lil catchy tune with major doggo vibes 😀
This is such an instant-classic tune – it feels very musically satisfying. Shades of Leon Redbone.
Nice! Short and sweet tune to brighten the day. I can picture the dog, snoozing away, then trotting off at the end…
Your dog is only barely talking a cat nap! It sounds like he was having a good dream, though. Nicely played, as always.
This is fun and perked up my day!
A nice, pleasant bit of music.
Hmmm I really like that. I can definitely feel the sentiment of a lazy dog kinda day through the feel of it. Very nice!
@tasia I don’t do sheet music! It was composed in my head, worked out quickly, and recorded directly. I haven’t even written down the chords!
The A section is basically D-B7-E7-A7-D, and the B section is basically D-D7-G-E7, and the C section is D-B7-E7-A7-D-B7-E7-A7-D (A D).Most of the charm is in the chromatic bass runs from D-B and G-E.
It’s all just recycled ragtime! Listen to highbrow ragtime like Scott Joplin, or lowbrow ragtime like jug bands or New Orleans marching bands, and you’ll hear where I stole all the harmonic motion. :)
