Ey jo
Liner Notes
I heard a few political songs the last couple of weeks where people change the lyrics of already existing songs and I want to continue in this tradition and decided to turn a German folk song into a process song The original song is Hejo Spann den Wagen an Due to visual impairment, I cannot read the lyrics while I’m playing so I have to learn everything by heart which is hard nowadays because due to chronic illness I suffer from brain fog where it’s very hard to memorise things and it’s easier to just improvise which is not possible in this case so I hope you don’t mind the brakes that much #banjo #folk #indiefolk #acousticonetake #german #political #queer
Lyrics
English translation at the bottom
Hey yo please listen to us! Because they are driving people across the country again Don't let them get stronger Don't let them get stronger
Hey yo it's tense Because it's getting colder and colder in this country Please go to the elections Go to the elections
Ey yo otherwise there'll be another conflagration And everyone supposedly didn't realize it soon enough Why don't you get the facts Why don't you get the facts?
Ey yo we need resistance, Let's shout out together everyone as he can Together we can do it Together we can do it
Ey jo that peace prevails in the country That every person can feel free again Let's fight for it Let's fight for it
Ey jo every person is relevant Because we always need a breath of fresh air in this country With many colors With all our colors

All I can write is resistance songs these days, so I’m here for it! Thanks for providing the English translation for us non-German speakers. The ey jo is so sing-along-able, what a wonderful protest chant.
I don’t understand german but after I put into translate I was able to understand the lyrics and these are very timely and much needed.
so interesting! i recently had a chance to do a research on german fairy tales so this was very interesting to listen. it's got an adventure vibe
