The Miles
Liner Notes
The C# on my piano is horribly out of tune, so Am is a pretty safe key to play in. My voice however is shredded. #acousticonetake #blues
Lyrics
I don't ever worry About a future I can't see I'm never sorry That's not the way for anyone to be If you've got troubles And you need someone to blame Put it on my shoulders It's all the same to me
I'm not the devil I've just lived a while I'm nothing special I've just put in the miles I've seen a lot of heartbreak Some of it was mine And I've done a lot of walking Away in my time
I used to see blue sky And think about the day Now I look for clouds And think about the rain Washing me away
One day you might see me Out of the corner of your eye You didn't believe me The day I said goodbye You can see the footsteps Leading from my grave If you see my shadow You can say it was a lie
verse: Am, Dm, F7, E7 middle: C, C9, Fmaj7, D7, G, E7, Am

That piano riff really works, love it. The unexpected F7 is great. Those last four lines are such a hard-hitting way to end a lyric, wow.
ooooo the randy newman of it all is so great! i really love everything about this. the coughing during the last verse is actually really effective too in selling the whole vibe too. thanks for this!
'If you see my shadow you can say it was a lie' is a killer final line! Well worth working on.
I think the slightly out of tune piano and just general tone of it complements the reflective and pensive quality of the lyrics and melody really well. Well done!
The antique echoey out-of-tune piano makes this! If you hear the echoes from the piano, or you see the shadow, you can say it was a lie. Great words too.
“The piano has been drinking. Not me.” -Tom Waits. I really like the changes in the middle. They correspond with the blue sky.
I’m loving the tone of the piano. The lyrics and vocal delivery are great too!
The out of tune piano makes it
This has many elements that I like, Nick Cave kind of sinister piano sound, the riff works really well. I don't always find myself listening to the lyrics that much, but there were some gems there (I'm not the devil; I've just lived a while; I'm nothing special; I've just put in the miles). Great song!
