Incorruptible

Liner Notes

My friend forced me to play a Gmaj7 chord in a session last week and I actually liked it. Ha! So just wrote a song with it to solidify it under my fingers. This is about as jazz as I get. The story for the song was inspired by a recent unfortunate computer hacking incident my poor hubby experienced. We got through it together. The forces of evil will not ruin my faith in humanity. And sorry for the F bomb but it fit.

Lyrics

Verse 1 Amaj7 - Gmaj7 Condensation on the mirror Eventually disappears The fog will fade with time A ray of sunlight through the blinds

Break: Dmaj7

Verse 2 Amaj7 - Gmaj7 That brave heart on your sleeve A page torn from your diary A boot print on your heart But today’s a brand new start

Chorus Dmaj7-Gmaj7 So throw your arms open wide And dare to share that smile 'Cause I am right here with you I am always here with you

Verse 3 Amaj7 - Gmaj7 Charlatans and thieves Tried to steal your sanity Away to shadowlands But our castle still stands

Chorus Dmaj7-Gmaj7 So throw your arms open wide And dare to share that smile I am right here with you I am always here with you

Bridge Bm7 D Bm7 Gmaj7-Amaj7 And we might be shaken But we are unbreakable Indestructible Incorruptible

Verse 4 Amaj7 - Gmaj7 Lessons learned through pain Might spare us from a crueler fate So fuck those crooked bandits ‘Cause they don’t know who they’re messing with

Chorus Dmaj7-Gmaj7

Makes me think of Carole King for some reason, though IMHO your voice is better than hers. I love the piano and all the rhythmic and percussive touches. And I'm sorry for your situation but you've definitely turned lemons into lemonade here. Awesome song.

This is beautifully poetic with the images and metaphors and strong powerful message - well suited to the gorgeous jazzy music you deliver - the keys and guitar work really well! The flow of the melody and your vocals are absolutely fabulous. I love the warm supportive feel this song conveys. Lots of empathy and emotional intelligence. Perfect!

Like this tender vocal—you have so many options with your many voices and tones. I especially like V3. SO sorry you two had to deal with hackers…what a nightmare.

Ahh! Gmaj7, my old friend/nemesis. This is gorgeous and gives me vibes like a band I love called The Innocence Mission. Absolutely lovely and jazzy and vibe-tastic.

The fact that a computer hacking incident inspired this is crazy - it’s a great song that fits so many circumstances. Your voice is gorgeous and I enjoyed the fun jazzy chords and the piano interplay.

"Jazzy Beth" is a fun Beth iteration. I keep a list. I'm still waiting for "Progressive Metal Beth" or "Math Rock Beth" to appear too.

I really dig the vibe you've got going here! Hacker Jazz Folk. Very cool delivery.

Also, Gmaj7 is one of my favorite chord shapes. ❤️

Such pretty vocals! This song feels like validation and comfort wrapped up in a beautiful musical package. Ugh so sorry about the hacking - so nice to get a good song out of it and even better that you got through it together!

I love the way a new-to-us chord voicing (or even picking up a different instrument) can inspire new melodies. I would never have guessed the impetus for this was a hack. Way to turn that into a love song!

Gmaj7 - needs 4 fingers (i just watched the start of a how to video). Respect, good chording and ordering of the chords into a song and singing over it and everything!

This has a great feel to it. The arrangement is perfect, the piano a tasty touch. Verse three is my favorite, but the whole lyric feels good. The empowering last verse is just right, the F bomb is totally appropriate.

I love this. 7th chords are my personal favorite. Works perfectly for this song!

So pretty even for the content. The Gmaj7 chord really fits your voice well! So much talent! Thank you for sharing your gifts.
