Constantly Changing

Skirmish: Everything is constantly ... (@robinleaf)Liner Notes
Change is inevitable - it's how you deal with it that counts.
Working for the past year on #theatrical and #musical theatre themes has expanded my default mode for a #skirmish under time pressure. I came back from a walk with about 20 minutes left on this challenge, and somehow a #waltz came out. I posted the first draft, but it took a bit longer to post a #personwithpiano #theatrical demo. Thanks @robinleaf for the prompt.
Lyrics
Constantly Changing (I still have you)
Verse 1: Took a long walk today It's my favorite way to stay sane - what's yours? Too many changes in too short a span Are we stuck on a train? A runaway train?
V2: The jet stream’s descended far to the South Thunderhead clouds are aloft Busy and dizzy from spinning too fast Are we moving too fast to ever step off?
CHORUS: Everything’s in disarray Things are not going our way With everything constantly changing I’m so glad I still have you
V3: Breaking news every half-hour Groceries fly from the shelf Turn off the screens manufacturing dreams I need to see - see for myself
Bridge: A Realtor's sign on the neighbor's front lawn That house changed hands just two years ago It's clear that there's movement and motion and speed But do we know it's the right way to go?
History teaches if we choose to observe There are valleys in each mountain range No wonder it's tempting to live in the past When the only constant in life - is change
CHORUS

“Turn off the screens manufacturing dreams I need to see - see for myself “ I applauded this aloud. Then that last verse just sealed the whole deal. I could really see this as one of those “key moment” songs in a musical where the protagonist pours their heart out and then things either start to improve or go to hell in a handcart.
Demo coming soon! I couldn't resist the latest (5 PM EST) prompt for #notnormal but will post the semi-final result for this song later this evening.
Yeah very relatable and heartfelt lyrics, great write.
Very relatable lyrics. I'm looking forward to hearing them.
All those relatable questions; I really like "Are we moving too fast to step off?"
Nice take on the prompt. Some lovely lines in there (turn off the screens manufacturing dreams) would love to hear this...
Thanks for the kind words, especially @berni1954. I've been channelling my inner Rogers and Hammerstein after spending the last 18 months writing and scoring a musical. And I'm beginning to think in visual terms and how the music might be performed out of my rock-and-roll comfort zone.
