Summer's Long

Skirmish: Time-warp Tuesday - - Son... (@dudachris)Liner Notes
Had an hour to spare so decided to jump into this #skirmish. This isn't based on any ideas I had lying around - it's fresh out of the oven!
Well, based on those chords it's fresh from Noel circa 1995 perhaps.
Two takes, stitched together with a bit of keyboard. Sorry the guitar is a bit out of tune - you can either Fmaj7 in tune, G in tune or Am in tune - never all three at the same time. Can't be done.
I don't do happy summertime songs. It's been summer here for months and I am in the mood for some clouds and wind.
Lyrics
verse - Fmaj7, Fmaj7/b, C, Cmaj7, Fmaj7, Fmaj7/b, C, Cadd9
summer's long, but i don't need to be warm summer's gone, but i don't want it to be
chorus - G, D/F#, Em7, D, G, D/F#, Em7, Bm-Bm7, Am, Asus2, Fmaj7, Fmaj7/b
summer's long, i don't want it to be summer's gone, i don't want it be
post-chorus Am, Asus2, Fmaj7, Fmaj7/b, Am, Asus2, Fmaj7, Bm-Bm7-A6\9\B, Bm-Bm7-A6\9\B, G
summer long, summer long, summer long, winter gone*
ROUND 2
winter's gone, but i don't need to be warm winter's gone, but i don't want it to be
summer's long, i don't want it to be summer's gone, i don't want it be
summer long, summer long, summer long, winter gone

You really captured the grass is always greener in this song. Here's to clouds in wine in your future! Thank you for sharing, awesome! 🐸
this is cool! it’s got a very 90s vibe to me. every alternative band had a quirky acoustic number on their albums. i was always a fan of those. it’s very different from most other stuff ive heard from you, which is always fun. nice job
Awesome! I love a melancholy summer song. I like the waves of repeating lyrics and the chord progression very much. Nice track!
Oh man, I meant to put a line in there saying our Kiwis, Aussies and others where the seasonal patterns are different can do their own inversions.... Sorry mate. I do believe you kinda went there a touch anyway. Thanks for jumping in and sharing!
This gives me major dinosaur jr vibes. Lovely chord progression. It’s nice to hear a stripped back tune from you.
