Skirmish: Say What You Mean to Say (@hmstreetteam)Liner Notes
The #skirmish challenge was to make prominent use of one-syllable words. What came out was an ode to perhaps unjustified self-confidence. #acousticonetake
Lyrics
I like to think I’m the boss I like to think I’m the star I like to think I’m the main man Right in the heart Of where the best things are
I like to think I’m a champ As if I won the top prize I plan to take it to the bank Like a big fat check While you stand there and roll your eyes
I said what I meant to say I’ll say what you want to hear Though I know each word goes In the right ear and out the left ear I did what I planned to do Like corn that’s all set to pop I moved like the wind, Like a storm, then I stopped Where I planned to stop
I like to think I’m so hot I’m on the top of the fire The words I live by are Don’t look down ’til you’re done When you walk on a wire
I said what I meant to say I’ll say what you want to hear Though I know each word goes In the right ear and out the left ear I did what I planned to do Like corn that’s all set to pop I moved like the wind, Like a storm, then I stopped Where I planned to stop

Great song and love the lyrical content
Catchy melody and great vocals! Cool guitar strum riff too! I love the lines in this.
Love the phrasing on "though I know each word goes / in the right ear and out the left ear"! This is nice and punchy!
Nice tune, I liked the chord progression and I immediatley hummed along
I think we've all known someone like this, truly incredible work capturing the arrogance of some people
Ooh this is punchy! I love that stop at end of the chorus. Nice work!
Brilliant word choices. Then “Then I stopped” is such a good line and moment. I think of two big pop hits on this theme in the last few years, and this one seems to be cut from the same cloth.
Single-syllable short words is a powerful prompt, setting you up to perfectly emphasize the rhythm. I almost want a guitar solo, but it might spoil it!
