Jangle Pop Jeff Walker - Feb 2025
V1
(Got a note) from a friend about a band they used to love
Took me down a rabbit hole remembering their stuff
And all the other jangle pop it made me think about
Made a list of groups who did it til it kinda faded out…
V2 Guess who got it started was McGuinn and the Byrds It was more about the guitars and less about the words But the choruses would tend to make you wanna sing along And the hooks were really catchy in every single song…
CH Wanna hear more of that / jingle jangle Let the Telecasters ring Some rocking two part harmonies And Rickenbacker 12 strings My heart gets warmer… When September Gurls comes on And I Feel a Whole Lot Better… When I hear an REM song Doesn’t seem like it was so long ago back then When I hear that jangle pop again
V3 Badfinger & The Hollies can’t be left out of this The Las with There She Goes makes anybody’s list The Connells and Mitch Easter and the dB’s jangled out Pylon, Love Tractor and The Pretenders get a shout
CH
BR You can argue that it’s just a type of power pop Just maybe with more ring to the guitars I don’t care…Just play me some Boylan Heights or some Big Star…

Really enjoyable, both as music to listen to and the lyrics. I guess it's just my nostalgia but still. Nice work!
Super fun listen, Jeff, and supremely nostalgic. I like how you are stretching out this FAWM.
Always a pleasure to hear jangling guitars, and I love the references. I love your taste and your playing, and a perfect last bar.
glad to ear this after just missing it on Friday, What a gorgeous rolling along feel, I know more that i expected to of the great list you er.. list.. Made me realise how widespread and yet what a specific vein it is. You bring a nice nostalgia to the happy sound of jangle pop! nice one :)

I guess I'm a fan of jangle pop now! I especially like V2. The Chorus has such a great rhythm to it, it's irresistible. Very nice work, Jeff! ("Work"?)
REM and the Byrds, yea
I think we can safely assert that this is absolutely in your wheelhouse from this point on. I mean' c'mon; ringing Telecasters? That's totally you. Beautifully done.
i wouldnt say this was out of your wheelhouse. its just the backing track that goes for the jangle-pop sound, the singing is all jeff walker. and keep in mind that many of the bands cited in the song have roots in country music. you did an excellent job with the nostalgic lyrics, and anybody who liked those band is going to get a jolt of nostalgie in hearing this song.
I love your voice! The stresses and rhythms of these lyrics are so natural, which is my favorite thing and in my experience very hard to do. Plus nostalgia is the game of the day but so hard to list artists without it sounding forced. Bravo!
Wow! I love this! Badfinger and the Hollies - oh yeah! Now I must go down that rabbit hole listening to my favorites. Definitely in your wheelhouse, for sure. For me, it's mostly about the music and not the words. No wonder I start with the music and fill in the blanks with words, sometimes losing sight of proper structure - lol! Well done!
Love the way the lyrics reference a load of jangle pop bands. The music suits this perfectly. I feel a whole lot better having heard this tune. Very catchy pop song.
