Liner Notes
Trackers (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Music_tracker) are a kind of music sequencers that originated in the late 80s – and they were very popular with people from the demoscene, a subculture devoted to making audiovisual art with intricate code that only takes up a minuscule amount of disk space. The demoscene is still thriving today, and trackers have seen a bit of a resurgence lately.
I admire demoscene artists, and I had long wanted to make a song in a tracker, so I sat down with OpenMPT and fell down a rabbit hole. I also wanted to make something for the 2x4 challenge (2 melody instruments, 4 drum instruments).

Very consistent, sounding quick and easy but complex as well. I‘m intrigued! Your 2 by 4 Tracker is very enjoyable!!!
I have no idea what a tracker is! This is groovy, very groovy.
Bass immediately had me hooked. Definitely has and old school tracker vibe to it 🤘reminds me of a game I had on Sega Genesis as a kid
It all fits together in an exciting way. Love the metallic free wheeling drums (to the static beat) and the driving bassline to the harmony.
Great bass sound. I like how this builds. Thanks for introducing me to to the terms "tracker" and OpenMPT.
Really fun, like some Joy Division drumming! I really enjoy the sounds and layers!
Oh my gosh! Tracker music is so fun!!
I spent SO much time with Impulse Tracker in the '90s. A tracker is the perfect tool for this challenge. Love that bass line!
