California

Lyrics
The happy laughter of my folks drifted to my ears and in my dreams this morning. I woke up smiling, knowing joy would heal our hearts and take us through the storming.
And it feels like distant mornings when we lived in California when we lived in California
My childhood years rushed back to me all those happy times that I can barely remember sometimes. I know now that love was there with them and there with me and that it held us together.
And it feels like distant dawnings when we lived in California when we lived in California
My dad is listening to the songs once sung on the seas and Mom is frying up bacon. I love to hear her laughing voice even though she says it gives her a headache.
And it feels like distant mornings, when we lived in California, when we lived in California.

Very beautiful song, singing and playing. Love your voice and guitar playing. I agree, it's magical.
This sounds like a road back home after a long and arduous journey. Like nothing will ever be the same but still allright. Like hope sitting next to loss, holding hands.
This is absolutely magical! Your beautiful voice and guitar, the dream-like melody and the wistful lyrics. Love it!
Wow, love the moods of your music; your guitar and vocals are sublime. I love that chord progression on your chorus. A late, night radio playlist sound; my favorite!
I think I just fixed it? Uploaded it to the FAWM (I donated! Woot!). Please lmk if it's still inaccessible.
Unfortunately the demo is restricted-- you'll have to change the permissions or maybe add it to a different service like SoundCloud. I like the lyric a lot, though! Such a wistful sentiment.
A dreamy reminiscent song. Love the slow burn on the instrumentation and the reverb. My favorite line is perhaps "I woke up smiling, knowing joy would heal our hearts." I especially like how this line takes on a doubled meaning in the delivery, the first just waking up and knowing joy but also that joy can and will heal hearts. I also really like the line about knowing love was there, with them, and me, and holding us together. The theme throughout is very positive, which makes the line "gives her a headache" expose a bit of a mystery. Was it the laughing, was it the bacon, the songs of the sea, the father, maybe something I missed. I suppose it is that mystery that underpins the whole song, a place looked back upon perfectly but at the same time distant.
