Liner Notes

I got to the skirmish late but this was a fun, quick write. That title had a lot of great imagery built in already! #skirmish #lyricsonly #lyrics

Lyrics

It’s a green grass winter But it was snowing just the other day Now the ice has melted and Fires spreading through LA It’s February but you can get a tan Lay your boorish sunscreen on thick But there are flowers blooming Down in the Antarctic

It’s a green grass winter But the green is turning brown Probably from the lack of rain clouds Crying on this town Lawns are being lost To their skeletons of dirt All the counties reservoirs Screaming drought alerts

It’s a green grass winter Or so I’ve heard the tales Of grassy lawns, clean oceans, And the long extinct blue whale Before granddad passed away I heard stories from before the downfall He left me a painting of a meadow I’ve got it hanging on the wall

Some really cool imagery in here; I particularly liked "Lawns are being lost / To their skeletons of dirt". The structure is great too. Starting off each verse in the same way really grounds it and tells a story.

Nice take on the title that you chose - a concerning topic but with evocative and picturesque language.

I chose the same one! This is so great. I love having the West Coast perspective on this, and your word choices are ace. My favorite stanza is the second (OMG "skeletons of dirt," genius), but I also really like the way you've ended it...

You made good use of the prompt and got the message across very well.

Evocative imagery and love how it moves to a more personal note in the last verse. Well done!
