Liner Notes
Rachel says: I had so much fun collaborating with Nigel last year and was excited to play with a new funky track of his. I had the image of flying into outer space as I wrote the lyrics and vocal melody and just wanted to make it feel fun and fantastical. I love what he's added with a subtle guitar line and sax parts to complement the vocals.
Lyrics
On The Wings of Love Music/Instrumentation/Mix by Nigel Pattinson Lyrics and vocals by Rachel Eve
Let’s make a getaway Don’t you want to leave this tired place? We can take a ride To the other side A new dimension Where they cannot steal our light
Making our way up through the clouds They’re never gonna catch us now When we break the atmosphere
We will… Fly on the wings of love, we’ll Fly on the wings of love Fly on the wings of love…
VERSE When we get up to the stars We can make a new brand new start Space looks good on you Don’t you feel it too A new connection Sending sparks into the sky
BRIDGE Higher Higher now x 2
VERSE 3 We can dance in galaxies Full of colors that our eyes have never seen Closer to the sun We have just begun A new reflection Orbiting inside our minds
CHORUS

Nice groove with that (busy) bass and good jazzy singing. .
Holy cow! This is funky and jazzy glory! I really love how all the different pieces (melody, bass line, piano, guitar, horns, drums) all play with one another in an intricate dance. It really all comes together beautifully!
Glorious! I feel like I’m in a smoky jazz club enjoying your groove. What an excellent transatlantic collaboration, you two. I’m over here flying on those wings of love.
Jazzy and fun, really well done, music and lyrics fit perfectly together. Great collab!
My head is bobbing with the groove and my heart is soaring with the vocals! Beautiful. What a great collab.
What fun it is to collab with Rachel with her fabulous vocal quality and songwriting. The song started with funky drum loops from yurt rock and this inspired the bass line that I’m really pleased with. Then electric piano using Logic’s vintage piano sounds. Middle section was quite a challenge as Dm7b5 gives this diminished feel. Rachel provided 5 (yes 5) vocal parts against my simple bass and clavinet arpeggios. Finally I had this idea that the saxophone idea would swap from alto to soprano as it wound its way upwards. Never mind all that. Just revel or bask in Rachel’s glorious singing and cool lyrics.
Love the groove in this! Beautiful vocals and that bass line is 🔥
wow! best collab I've heard here this year! like it was meant to be - finished work. I'm so glad I kept listening until the bridge, too.
