Janey's Place

Liner Notes

#accoustic #folk #localhang I spend a lot of my weekends here up at a favorite live music venue called Janey's Coffee House & Bodega. https://cavecreekazmusic.com/ Its an outdoor patio bar that has live music 6 nights a week, including daytime shows on weekends. This song is inspired by the place and the local regulars like me that enjoy it. It really is a favorite place to hang and watch great local musicians. Its my favorite part of the winter here.

Lyrics

We love to go up to Janys place On a Saturday night, your gonna see my face If its cold outside, the heaters are glowing If the band is playing, you know Ill be going Refrain: We’re gonna meet up at Janey’s place you never know who’s up at Janey’s Place You got to meet us up at Janey’s place They got it all up at Janeys place

There’s a few regulars you can always count on You never miss, old Harmonica John, And he’s always there with old man Rob Then there’s red Melanie, the dog lady Everybody loves a night up at Janey’s refrain Out on the dance floor, an old man swings with his young bride as the singer sings the band is playing an old Neil Young tune the whole crowd sings along with Harvest moon

Always a good word from Bartender Jay he pours the drinks for you as you pay and Mary is there to help at the bar all the men love her from afar Refrain The night goes on and the stars are bright The moon is high in the night sky Now its last call as we say goodbyes you don’t have to go home, but its time to fly

Great observational details and the simple repetition in the chorus is like an advertising jingle that you can't get out of your head. Now I want to go.

It's been pointed out by more astute folks than me, but the societal loss of "third places" is a damn shame. This charming nod to yours is like sharing it with us.

Oh, I love observation-songs and especially when the love for a pub or cafe is celebrated. Great job on this one. Makes we want to visit.

I’m sure this song leaves all of us craving to visit Janey’s Place. It sounds like a dream come true to have this kind of laid-back, live music venue to hang out at out West. A lot of outstanding lyrics and details describing this place. Todd’s right, you should play some of your tunes there, I’m sure they’d love this one as well as all your other Western-influenced songs you’ve written. Maybe someday we could all head out there and do a FAWM showcase!

Did you mention Janey's place last FAWM or was that another place? I'm starting to get a real feel for your winter locale. So cool you have a place like that. You create a very visual story here with your lyrics. Feel like I know those characters and it makes me totally want to be there. Sounds like a real special kind of place and this is nice tribute. I like the way your voice goes up when you say "place" at the end of the chorus. I checked out the website and they're looking for people to play. Maybe you should consider it. Nice work, Tim.
