I thought my songwriting days were over around 2005. Then I discovered FAWM.

Forced creativity. You can't beat it.

I'm not sure what this year will bring. I've been working on a recording project off and on, so it would be wonderful if I could write a new song or two to add to that.

Looking forward to seeing what everyone else gets up to.

I have a YouTube channel where I talk about music. Check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/@lostmixtapes

Ok, it's go time.

Todd. Thanks again for all the thoughtful comments on my songs. Especially the Matriarch. It was a bittersweet year. I had tons of material and no shortage of inspiration. But a lot of the stuff was pretty down trodden. But I do love the forced creativity as you call it. You continue to inspire as well. Cool stuff all around. It would be fun to get together in person again sometime. Maybe if u ever get back to MN is summertime? Would be fun to get u me and Joe together. Think about it.

Hey Todd, I saw your additional comments about “The Code of You” and I know how complex it can get to communicate about writing and producing songs as it is, let alone with the new twists in technology. I ran out of liner note characters the other night trying to explain my “Katwerk” song and I still didn’t really explain it quite how I wanted to. I can’t wait to talk to you for a post-FAWM chat and about the whole AI aspect in producing music, plus it would be nice to catch up in general. You’ve written a great variety of songs this year with some very cool subjects and experimental approaches. It’s been a super challenging year but it was a life-saver to have something to focus on creatively.

Hey Todd, it would be cool to hear a few more of your Early years originals from the lost archives. "Norem, The Early Years" Unlike many previous years, this summer and fall I did a good job of keeping a journal of ideas. And fortunately for me, i've got more time this year to write/record. Its pretty slow at work so I am taking long weekends and just really pouring out the lyrics. I fear, that i am about to hit a wall soon, and may struggle to finish 14. but so far i'm really enjoying it. As always im struggling with melodies. so if you got any extra music, i got plenty of lyric ideas. 😀

Hey Todd thanks for the kind words on Janeys place. It’s a cool place to hang out. I wrote about a different place last year. That was a real cowboy bar up the road called Harold’s Corral. Very different vibe. Janeys is much more my kind of music. As for me playing there … I’m way too shy and not nearly as good as the pros that play there. It’s usually full bands that have been playing there for years. It would be cool though. If you’re ever in town I’d take u there you’d love it!

Todd, I know 20 years is insane. My first year, i just posted lyrics. I couldnt play guitar, and had no means for recording. Took my first lessons the next summer. Then the first few years I was just learning guitar, and posted extremely poor quality recordings.. I unearthed one of them from like 09 I had on an old Hard drive, and wow - embarrassing. I'd like to think i've gotten better at the whole recording and playing part.. but the whole point is still about writing. That part is getting easier, but not sure its better 😀
