Red, Red, Red

Liner Notes

Autistic burnout is a cycle I'm working my way out of. Some days/weeks are better than others. Since it is FAWM, it started me thinking in terms of song lyrics and then I wanted to play with harmony again, and genre. I haven't sung this intentionally not classical ever, I don't think and I really like the result. Recording is rough, but I'm leaving the phone vibration and puppy whines in, cause I can't put this song on pause as well to do a better version. This also is my song for the #oraclechallenge My card was Forbidden. Fittingly. #autistic #blues #bluesy #acapella #harmony #singersongwriter #burnout #vocals

Lyrics

The warning light comes on It’s blinking red, red, red, This is a bad, bad call, I hear inside my head We’re very close now Too close to turn Slow down the racing legs, This is the edge

It’s not forbidden, Not exactly, Just a bad idea It’s not forbidden, But it’s chancy Packs a punch that hurts

Too many people talk And all their voices merge I’m losing track of now, I know I’m on the verge We’re very close now Too close to stop Pick out a place for us to drop That has a ledge

It’s not forbidden, Not exactly, Just a bad idea It’s not forbidden, But it’s chancy Packs a punch that hurts

It’s not forbidden, Not exactly, Just a bad idea It’s not forbidden, It’s real chancy Packs a punch that hurts

What lovely harmonies! I'd love to hear what you did with this if you had more time. "Too many people talk and all their voices merge." Yeah. I think a lot of people will feel this.

This is absolutely stunning, both in writing and performance. A brilliant interpretation of the card, with a touch of blues that evokes the spirit of a contemporary Ella Fitzgerald. The flow of the lyrics is pure magic, with so many brilliant lines that captivate. Incredible work. Thank you for sharing your talent in this challenge! 😄

Really good song, it shifts from gospel to blues and beyond in feel. The words (and the way you sing them) are striking - I was particularly taken bt the line Pick out a place for us to drop That has a ledge Great FAWMIng
