TC: Two things. 1) I've been sending (or asking to send) unsolicited lyrics to people this weekend. So far I'm batting pretty good. Cat decided to return the favor. Touche, Cat. Touche. And 2) I'm scheduled to get a tiny piece of glass out of a fretting finger tomorrow. I'm hoping it doesn't sideline my guitar playing more than a day or two but we'll see. A simple guy with guitar take for now.
Lyrics
He always played a little sharp His fingers flew as smooth as glass Along the frets of his guitar He stood alone, a separate class
And even when this Tiger roared Never a cutting word he spake His gentle tenor voice, it soared Above the tuneful riffs he’d make
So when he went to see the doc About a nagging little pain Oh it would come as quite a shock The news the doctor stated plain:
You’ll have to go under the knife If permanent relief you seek; So for your quality of life, Come back again this time next week
The conversation would rewind As he retreated to his den With only one thing on his mind: Would he play the same again?
You’ll have to go under the knife If permanent relief you seek; So for your quality of life, Come back again this time next week

it's funny how little songs about specific, real-life, personal things can take a form that feel universal. thankfully i'm not going under the knife soon, but i have multiple loved ones who are (or have recently), so thoughts like "Would he play the same again?" have been swimming in my mind a lot lately... thanks for this.
Very nice collaboration. Good luck with the medical procedure!
Really like these lyrics and your treatment thereof. ❤️
Wow, an autobiographical write about an upcoming procedure? What a way to take on the prompt of life!! I'm still working on our collab, trying to find the right exact melody. I hope all the glass is removed with little pain and speedy healing so that you can continue playing guitar for maximum quality of life!!
Sometimes an acoutic guitar and a great melody are enough to get the point across..in this case it did. Good luck with finger ans a speedy recovery
I agree, turning this into a song was a brilliant idea, very FAWMy of you. I also love that you used the word "spake" in a lyric <3
