10: Round and Round (Widgets)
Liner Notes
headphones recommended Round and Round (Widgets) is a 1939 public domain film by the Handy (Jam) Organization. It is my first #slothcore track of FAWM 2025 and was recorded at 20 bpm. Audio samples have been slowed down to 60% of the original film.
Quoting from the https://archive.org/details/Roundand1939 page “The film is a highly simplified explanation of free-enterprise economics that fails to mention the idea of profit.”

Your music enhanced the film greatly. Interestingly my attention went more to the film with the music flowing along in the background. The mix was quite enjoyable.
I love that distortion from the streeeetching of the samples. Starts off eerie then adds those synth waves washing in and out! Very calming in it's quiet reflections of what came before. I realized what it is I love about your work, and it's the push and pull of the present and the past. You use these electronic means to produce music that is surrounded by the voices of a time long lost. This track evokes this STRONGLY. It's like I'm sifting through moments on some sort of future memory-storing technology.
Trippy! You could definitely score some television...the good kind. Very moody and dark, but deceptively playful.
Ethereal and hypnotic. It has a quirky beauty to it.
The cold and slow buzzes and all make this a peaceful time, there is a sense of being isolated, but everything is chill.
What a creepy intro. Those old time music boxes can turn extremely creepy with even a little tampering (and sometimes with none!) This is kind of creepy all the way through, gives the general creeping feeling that something is wrong. Pretty unsettling listen.
the distorted music box toy-box adjacent sound at the beginning is really eerie and wonderful... really enjoying your work this fawm season, your production style is so haunting and immersive. this one in particular is a fabulous, spacey track that simply.... unfolds in a beautiful way!
ha ha - you too - I did my first slothcore track (this year) today as well, must be something sluggish in the air! This one was very subtle - the voices and and the creeping ambience just filled my room slowly overlaying the other sounds in the house/street and adding a mysterious atmosphere... the true soul of ambient music!
Cool ambient track to go along with the video. Funny I remember seeing that description over there but I never watched that video.
