See the red balloon Floating high above Some child just let it go And didn't show it love

If that were my balloon I would hold on tight And float into the sky And away out of sight

I'd float up to the clouds And there I'd stop and lie On a cloudy bed With my balloon close by

I'd say "See that little child We are just above? Some grownup let him go And didn't show him love

"If that were my child I would hold him tight And float him to the clouds Away out of sight

"Then he could rest And wipe away his tears And help other children Forget their fears"

It's just a red balloon Floating free and high But oh! How it must feel To fly and fly and fly
