In the shadow of the pines, where the mist hangs low,
Something stirs the leaves, a creature, barely known
Eyes like glowing embers, in the light of the moon
A shape that begs description, gone too soon

Footprints fade where the river bends,
Evidence where the forest ends.
Is it beast or myth, or something more?
A chimera created in the cold war?

The townsfolk speak in knowing tones,
Of a creature that wanders the wild unknown
It trips through time and into our dreams
A phantom born of the in-between.
