Liner Notes
My friend Charlie has been a constant source of joy, light, encouragement, and kindness in my life, and has often led me back to the spiritual beam. Sometimes even those friends need a reminder to breathe, and to be shown appreciation. It's not his birthday.
Also, I wouldn't recommend breathing to the cues in this song, you'll hyperventilate. Trust me.
Lyrics
Breathe in, Charlie your ocean's broader than these waves
walk on, Charlie Your steps are quicker than this maze
breathe in breathe out
Breathe in, Charlie your ocean's broader than these waves breathe out, Charlie your gifts are greater than the take

Oh no!!! @kahlo2013 come back to us!!! I still haven't thanked you for your wonderful comment..... Seriously though, meditative was the goal, thanks alot!
I really love the synth riff… the deep bass resonate sound that moves through it and the top layers and percussion create a great musical stage for the pithy lyrics that feel meditative. Wonderful vocal delivery. And of course I had to try to breathe with your cues and now feel a bit lightheaded so am… una..ble…t..o…….wr…iiiii…..t……e…………..m…o….r…………e…..
Very mystical sounding synths. I love them, sounds like a trek into some magical misty forest. Very lush sound all together. The sound is entrancing. hypnotic almost towards the end. It builds to almost a mantra. Very intriguing listen!
Well I'd have to listen to a song with my name on it, wouldn't I? It's a nice minimalist synth arrangement, I like the overlaying vocals on the last verse and that kinda watery percussive element in the outro. The lyrics also add to the aesthetic of the song. #tit4tat
Hypnotic - the percussion is a gentle groove and the vocal and synths are delightfully chilling. I dig the minimalist poetry of the words, too. Awesome song!
Very beautiful, inspirational song, singing, playing, choice of instrumentation. Very interesting dissonances usages which add to the atmosphere of walking through the maze. Beautifully hypnotic song.
Beautiful lyric and tribute to a friend. Love the ocean line. Really cool music. Not what I expected reading the lyrics but unique and interesting with great production. Lovely
What a great sentiment to this song, it’s really thoughtful. Musically I love the way it gradually builds up towards the ‘breathe in, breathe out section’. Nice synth voicing too, what did you use for that part?
What a healing and mantra-ic (?) song! I want to set it as a morning alarm...we are all Charlie.
I like the way you stick with that Breathe In Breathe Out line. Like it’s not enough to give the advice and walk off, instead the song stays there and recognizes it’s hard to follow such seemingly simple advice. As a non-breather, I recognize that.
This is so lovely, the way it builds, the sentiment behind it, plus those synths sound rad!
Ok the liner note is the cutest "you'll hyperventilate, trust me" lol.
Also, I'm so glad someone did the friend angle I'd suggested in the prompt notes. Writing my "Neuro-Spicy Platonic Love Song" last year was so meaningful and I've been able to share it with lots of people to encourage them in appropriate moments. Despite the potential for hyperventilation I believe this song will be very meaningful for Charlie and I'm so glad this got submitted. Thank you 🙏 and applause 👏 👏 👏
I love how this builds, and the synth pattern is hypnotic. And the philosophy that "your ocean's broader than these waves" really puts things in perspective. Nice take on the prompt, and why wait for a birthday to show appreciation?
I love the "your steps are quicker than this maze" line. And even more with the explanation in the liner note
It's a great reminder that sometimes we need to help friends to get some air.
My attention got grabed by the title. It happens to be the title of one of my favorite songs by one of my favorite french rock band (deep influence on my lyrics and harmonica playing) :
