Lyrics
The Bean Feasa – Mike Delaney for FAWM2025
I saw a bean feasa sketching by the pond We got to talking about life and what’s beyond I asked how she maintained her creative spark She gave me her wisdom and hit it out of the park
She had a five-point creativity plan
Nothing is wasted; that’s the first rule
Always move forward, (is what) she said
And I said, “Hey, that’s really cool”
The next point is: Everything counts You can always move forward Keep all your work around No matter if chaotic or disordered
She looked me in the eyes To make sure I was paying attention Then she just went on And didn’t stop for any questions
Number three is follow the fun Find the spark of life and go there In the world and in your mind Fortunately, she says, fun isn’t rare
Next, she says, be discriminating If something isn’t fun, don’t do it If it makes you anxious, run away If it makes you amused, it’s a shoo-in
Number five is to share your artistry Out in the world, that’s what it’s all about A blog, a video, play your songs with friends That will help your creativity sprout
Finally, she gave me a bonus She said, Féinmheas (fain-vas) is key I didn’t know what she said So, she translated it for me as Self-Esteem
She goes on, no matter what you’ve done One poem, a drawing, beautify a room Then you are truly a creator You can help your creativity bloom
I told her my creativity Comes from walking in the woods And talking to a bean feasa And this day has been quite good
So, as soon as we had parted I sat and wrote down all I heard On this totally enchanting day And all of her creativity words
Nice. And great shout out to Kate. Listening, I couldn't help but reflect on your very first song you wrote in a Bob Franke class. 🙂
