It's Not About Me

Skirmish: People watching (@lyricslinger)Liner Notes
#lyricsonly #skirmish I was in a zoom class once where this man dominated the conversation talking about all the stuff he does for other people, the entire time insisting "but it's not about me." I sort of have an idea for the chorus melody. Maybe it's a metal song.
Lyrics
Like a sun that only shines where adoration flies He scatter gifts for echoes of the loud applause that follows His hands extend in expectation for praise and admiration Grasping not for gratitude but for worship amplitude
He sighs beneath the weight of his own giving Insisting it is nothing
It’s not about me It’s not about me, me, me It’s not about me It’s not about me, me, me
He kneels beside the weary with phrases dipped in honey Puts coins in beggar’s palms when someone else is watching He’s a lighthouse in a storm guiding souls to safety When passing ships can witness his generosity
Beyond their gaze he’s nothing but an empty shadowed tower Cold and dark and waiting for his next enamored traveler Glitter eyes reflect benevolence as he proclaims his evidence
It’s not about me It’s not about me, me, me It’s not about me It’s not about me, me, me
It’s not about me It’s not about me, me, me It’s not about me It’s not about me, me, me
Me, me, me Me, me, me About me, me, me Me, me, me
These are excellent lyrics. Some really poetic lines in the verses and the chorus drives home the song's message. Great skirmish song!
