Presenting an off-the-cuff 3-song arc about cupcakes, partially based on a true story as conveyed by the inimitable @catmisgivings. If the feast tag were still an option, this was definitely a cupcake feast.
Part II: The conflict.
Lyrics
I wanted that cupcake to be mine But they’re not taking orders online What can I say I guess it’s Valentine’s Day But then maybe they should put up a sign
Their website made me feel so dumb “Yeah we make cupcakes and you probably wanted some “Of our sugary bread “You should’ve thought ahead “But now don’t even bother to come”
Oooo the conditional craving Oooo the alternative’s unsavory
There’s nothing sadder than a Safeway cupcake
Who knows where or when these were made The frosting’s a most unsettling shade Too sweet and too dry Too much time has gone by I’m going to buy them now but I am afraid
Oooo the situational gravity Oooo I can feel the cavity
There’s nothing sadder than a Safeway cupcake
I am responsible alone Next time I'll probably just make my own
Comments
Tom Petty and Springsteen influences but still yours! Again you make the lyrics fun with good guitar/vocals
This one runs into lyric shoehorning issues - look for words that fit your rhythm and still say the same thing that all of those other words your’e trying to fit in.
and on to Part III???
A Safeway cupcake is still better than no cupcake at all. But only just.
Oooh, plot twist! But I'm with Alex on this: even a supermarket cupcake is better than no cupcake at all. Chorus is pure Tom Petty wonderfulness; prechorus #2 is the funniest thing I've heard in FAWM this year. Bravo!
