Rhubarb

Liner Notes
I'm a bad fiddler but I have gotten a little better this year. This is an old timey piece. I always think Rhubarb is an old timey plant and rhubarb pie an old timey pie. FYI: Rhubarb is only good in the spring at least in this part of the world. Replaced with a better mix Feb 16th
Lyrics
Key of D
Part A1 He (D) went down to the meadow where the (C) wild things (A) grow (D) There he saw her walking in the (C) early morning (D) glow Her (D) eyes were green as new grass, her (C) lips were ruby (A) red He (D) asked her what her name was (C) and she softly (D) said,
Part B My (C) name is Barbara Rawling, Rhubarb to my (D) friends I (C) come from (D) yonder mountain where the river bends He (C) said that is an odd name for one as fair as (D) you Come (C) visit to my (D) cabin and I’ll show you why they do.
Part A2 He knocked upon her cabin door she opened it up wide I’ll show you why I’m called so if you step inside He stepped or’ the threshold there was a glorious smell Come and taste the sweetest pie for which I’m named so well
Repeat Part B
Part A3 Her eyes were green as new grass, her lips were ruby red Her pie was so sweet and fine the best he’d ever had But summer turned to fall and winter came along Her pie got tough and then was gone so he moved along
Repeat Part B

really like the chord pattern. very old timey indeed to loop that 7 in and leave out any 4 at all, love that C to A feeling. also really taken by the eyes as green as new grass line, despite all the eye color comparisons in folk music I can't think of a single other case that uses grass in the metaphor, very cool. I also now can't stop thinking about what kind of grass........
Rhubarb is funny nickname for a person. Personally I think of rhubarb pie is more tangy than sweet, but that didn't stop me from being all the more intrigued by this woman.
The fiddle sounds great! It anchors the sentiment of the song. I love the colorful lyrics on this too.
Hey, hats off for the fiddle playing. It really adds to the song ... gives it an authentic sound. Would love to see you do this at songwriters.
A slice of Americana! Good traditional storytelling, could be interpreted at several levels. The instrumental interlude was nicely done. The whole production is well done and a nice listen.
Big nod to Old SChool. You have really knocked this out. Nice song. Rob.
