The amount of time I've spent trying to get this song right is ridiculous. But here it is. Skeletal.
I was out of commission last weekend due to my sister being in town. Then this week ended up being really busy.
I tried this song so many different ways. Recorded it live on Friday several times. Couldn't get it right. Then today I had a really lush arrangement that must have 20 tracks on it, but it ended up sounded very flat. Then I tried the live approach again and it wasn't working. Finally I just plugged a guitar directly in, said fidelity be damned, and got a live take with added background vocals.
I've been going back and editing some songs after I initially post them. Figuring out a part that bugged me or editing parts out. It's been interesting. I may end up tinkering with this one more as well.
Anyway, this is a song for my valentine.

Like how stripped back and vulnerable this one is. Kind of feels like anti-folk.

It is such a sweet Valentine song. I think the stripped-down sound worked well to channel the emotions through.

I’m sorry that All that tinkering didn’t work for u. But what u came back with is a really effective live performance that sounded great. Honest. Heartfelt. Lovely. Great melody and tone on the guitar too. This feels like a nice valentine for your Special person. Excellent song!

What a gorgeous love song! It's so pure and honest, exuding an underlying theme of rebirth and newfound happiness. The details can be specifically personal yet universal, like "Cute as a bug wearing your favorite hat". That really made me smile and tear up, it's so relatable to all of us about a person you're smitten with and in love with. This song is a breath of fresh air right now.
