Lyrics
One more week of prescription One more week of me and you Suzy Q One more thing to ruin One more pill to swallow
My baby's on the drugs From dusk until the morning comes (the morning comes) My baby's on the drugs From dusk until the morning comes (the morning comes) My baby's on the drugs From dusk until the morning comes (the morning comes) My baby's on the drugs From dusk until the morning comes (the morning comes)
You got an ailment I can't fix We gotta pretend it don't exist Oh no One more to day to set things straight One more promise to break
One more rule to break tonight One more way out to rule out I wouldn't be surprised Do I know how this will reach an end? I don't and I'm not going to pretend
I like the texture/tone/aesthetic you have here, the sorta of dirty retro organ background over the driving drums. A few thoughts: I think the "blocking" of the lyrics is weird over the chorus, like how the words are placed over the melody. I think specifically "baby" is weird because the melody kinda forces the accent of the word baby (which is usualy BAY-by) onto the second syllable (bay-BY), and at the same time the note goes downward in the second syllable; it's a little subtle thing but I think it keeps the chorus from "popping".
