You Are The One, I Am The Other

Liner Notes

I got a teeny bit behind this month, but I am still going to make my best effort!

Here is a little song about (mis)communication.

Lyrics

I can only see you from where I stand Even when I move my head It's hard to change my own mind

Maybe I'll never truly understand But I still want to try

You are the one I am the other In all the space between us There is so much to discover

You keep using words I know I've heard There are too many meanings I'm stuck in my own world

Maybe we'll never truly understand But maybe let's try

You are the one I am the other In all the space between us There is so much to discover

I want to believe we have more in common than just being human

You are the one I am the other In all the space between us There is so much to discover

You are the one I am the other In all the space between us There is so much to discover

Very beautiful song. I like your title. Very relatable and wonderful lyrics, music, singing and playing. Love your vocals and playing. I feel warmth and strength at the same time.

I was drawn to this because the title showed up in the Songs to check out tab, and elicited a visceral reaction. What a sentiment. Behind the link lives an honest song with great production. I love the tender openness to see eye to eye. But also, there's a sense of power imbalance, and feeling othered by a partner or group. This is thought-provoking and an enjoyable listen.

I love how much "you are the one, I am the other" makes me imagine just these two figures and everything else disappears. Also, the video you used is killer. A great fit.

I really like the guitar style - with the kind of mute-y-nness, letting certain notes ring...mesmerizing. The lyric phrasing like "You are the one I am the other" certainly nothing weird about it - but unique enough to be noticed. Solid.
