Make The Most Of It

by @paulmilne

Liner Notes

Demo up at last.

You will notice substantial differences between the sung and written lyrics. I just don't have time to transcribed all the changes I've made, so just listen and enjoy. Voice isn't great but at least I've got it out!

This song was inspired by another love song I heard on here, by @darcistrutt, and I realized I'd not yet written something for my partner. I've got some music for this but i want to think about it a bit more before i record.

Lyrics

V1 I know it's never been as good as this This is the time of my life You are the woman I've been waiting for My friend, my lover, my wife

C1 So let's make the most of it And hold each other tight who know what tomorrow brings Let's make the most of it tonight

V2 We'll turn the music way up high While we're making dinner And sing because we're humans beings And neither saints nor sinners

C2 So let's make the most of it And hold each other tight who know what tomorrow brings Let's make the most of it tonight

B When you say "Look at me" And pat me on the chest You say "I will look after you -- At least I'll do my best"

V3 Look up and count the lucky stars Across the midnight sky We'll never have this time again No point in asking why

C3 So let's make the most of it And hold each other tight who know what tomorrow brings Let's make the most of it tonight

Niiiice and here's why I think so: the demo gave me the impression of what it's like to hear your creative process in real time. I enjoyed hearing the melody worked out although your vocal isn't at its normal singing state. I still feel the intimacy, love and devotion. The song breathes it. Seriously. I also like how the transcript doesn't follow what you're actually singing, but again - I think that's part of what makes demos special. There's what is intended and then there's what's actually performed regardless if it's intentional or not (I, for one, am guilty of goofing up my lyrics but keep pressing on for the sake of the moment). This is a good statement of love, Paul. Very nice.

Love these lyrics. I seem to be writing more and more about my wife as I get older - she (or she and I) featured a lot this year.

I can also relate to "I've got some music for this but i want to think about it a bit more before i record" - this year, because of work commitments, I've written during the week, and rehearsed and made little phone demos to remember... and then I recorded in batches on Saturdays. I'm a LOT happier with this years songs than the last time I did FAWM (22) when I'd write and then record whatever I had... just to get on to the next.

I am fond of love songs that touch on longevity and simplicity. Don't know why, but it just does. It very much warms my heart. The bridge resonates with me a lot. It's like you've captured succinctly the devotion and emotion the two of you have for each other. It's a beautiful thing. With that stated. I'd like to hear this should it become a demo. I'll be around in March, so please let me know.
