Gold (for Molly)
Liner Notes
DEMO written, performed, & produced in Logic by Kate E. Stanton 2/23/25 for FAWM #singersongwriter #dreamy #harp #piano I recently attended a composer's workshop with the instruction of creating a song based off of specific pitches tied to letters in a name. I chose M-O-L-L-Y (Gb, G#, D#, D#, C#) for my inspiration and created this for my daughter.
Lyrics
Gold You came in the dark, where light was so far, Lost in my loneliness, you are a star. A dream I’d hoped to see, & hold so tight, Innocence bold, like purest light.
Heart of gold My shining stone A ray of hope in all I've ever known, In your eyes, I want to be The very best version of me.
No money buys what I have found, This treasure of gold, she's always around floating freely in my mind freely in my heart like an inner child
That’s why I love you. I love you, heart of gold. I want to be the best version of me.

I'm curious how the letters MOLLY translate to those chords? It's a really awesome concept, I just think I'm not quite understanding the prompt (first coffee of the day hasn't kicked in yet lol)
Such beautiful lyrics for your daughter too. Another song where you've done a fantastic job distilling the essence of the song down to its core elements, so the message and sentiment remains clear and focused.
I really like your writing style, vocals, and approach to songwriting. I'd love to try to collab with you at some point (maybe next FAWM?) Something to think about at least!
By Golly this is Nice for Molly! Very Smooooth and not too Sharp with all those Sharps# Reminds me of Kate Bush a bit. #tit4tat
Smooth and soft this one, I like the vocals at the end. Some heartfelt lyrics here. I'm sure your daughter will appreciate it someday. (or has already what do I know?) #tit4tat
Awwww that baby can PARTY dude! Lil cutie…is her rap name now…I haven’t researched pitches translating to mouth sounds so ima have do a deep dive on that…it makes sense but I was today years old when I heard it said so thanks for the homework.
This came out really cool! I can’t stop giggling look at that cute baby! She’s cool.
Heartwarming song. Sincere and beautiful. The ending harmonies were a surprise but a pleasant one at that.
Beautiful. How special this will be for her. And I loooove the way the song came about. What a cool prompt! Makes me want to try one for my son.
Lovely, lovely song. My mom used to sing to me to wake me up, but it was always along the lines of "Get your lazy butt up--you'll be late for school!" Yours brings more...meaning! ❤️
interesting concept! you have a good song from it. I like always expanding the toolkit
Great work made with the starting point, nice tribute, vocal effects really stand out and elevate.
Beautiful and haunting melody. I love this kind of challenge, it often leads to something very different and compelling. Your lyrics are delightful for this.
What an interesting challenge. I like what you've create within those constraints. Lyrically, it's quite a loving tribute to your daughter. Such a nice sentiment....
I heard about this technique but I just cant recall the name... Bach used it quite often in his works.
Your song has sweet lyrics. I did not expect the choir part bug yeah that's cool
Another beautiful song with a great message! Thanks for sharing your heart and voice of gold with us!
What a clever idea! A glorious piece I can hear in a Disney movie. So sweet!
Such a Kate Bush feel to your voice. Lovely!
Wow, this is absolutely divine. This should be played at every baby shower! It truly gave me the chills. I'd say you struck gold with this challenge (sorry). I love how you made it fit your daughter's name 💖
