@disarming : I am so grateful to my friend @theodamus halfway around the world from me! So cool to put another song together. I think it’s magic. Is it tooting your own horn if you really think you’ve made a great work of art? Because I love this song that we’ve made. Not saying everyone will agree that it’s even good. But I am super happy listening to this tune. It gives me goosebumps and even made me tear up. There are some words that reference my parents passing away, but the uplifting chorus is such a great turn around. Thank you @theodamus ! You rule!

@theodamus: I love collaborating with you @disarming, the way we write and the way we play and the sounds we’re building in our heads fit together so well, this is our second FAWM collaborating and it just works - this is my favourite of what we’ve done already!

I had some notes for what became the bridge/chorus in my phone from the first few days of feb, and when @disarming sent through the beginnings of this song including the beautiful verse lyrics and what they referenced and I immediately knew my lost little fragment belonged in this one. We go and go, and in the end it’s different but it’s home because of all the places we’ve been.

I’m challenging myself in lots of ways this year including some lead guitar, thanks for jumping on board with the trust and the space, can’t wait to hear what we do next <3

Lyrics

Let's Go

This bookmark was left on the last page you read and I'm afraid I've forgotten what you've said. These vines, they tangle, acutely angled wrapped around my spine, but I'll find a way to steal back my time.

I went down to the sea, no one followed me All my new acquaintances are fish and fish are free Yea, but so are we, now they’re telling me go deeper down

And down we go until You’re on your own And you thought that you’d be lonely but it feels like home

Drove away from that place and we never went back Memories can feel like an attack And I read the letter you had sent us from the california coast But the future is what I miss the most.

And down we go until You’re on your own And you thought that you’d be lonely but it feels like home

I went down to the sea, no one followed me All my new acquaintances are fish and fish are free Yea, but so are we, now they’re telling me go deeper down

And down we go until You’re on your own And you thought that you’d be lonely but it feels like home

This is fun. I like the two styles that both have a section to shine and then come together too. This is like a mash up of the pogues and the violent femmes and I am here for it. Very catchy… a melody and rhythm that linger. Great poetic lyric too. Nice! 🙌🎶

You sound like you had a lot of fun doing that song. Agree with others - very Pogues feel. Great song making! Love the chorus. Cheers

Reminds me of a cross between Neutral milk hotel and Dropkick murphys? In other words: a lot of fun! Catchy hook too

Folk punk goodness, rhythmic with lots of fun sound textures. Favorite line: "All my new acquaintances are fish and fish are free / Yea, but so are we"

Really like how everything drops out at the solo. The start-stop of "I went down to the sea" along with the picked guitar notes is great. The chorus is shout-alongalbe catchy.
