Sweet stories

Liner Notes

My plan for this month, writing every song about someone I know, is still working! However, a few people on my shortlist need energetic and erratic and dramatic songs, and this time I just felt like writing something that is smooth, relaxing, sweet and soft. So I picked someone with a more laid-back personality.

So I could write this #sweet little #piano centric tune in 9/4 measure. :)

I always find myself wondering how people do it when I hear something in an unusual time signature, but on this occasion I saw that you're a mathematician and that made a lot of sense! Very delicately put together piece of music and, as others have said below, it sounds like this comes very naturally to you. Great work! I like your approach of writing each song to match someone you know, and I hope you're planning on hosting a listening party for these people so you can see how they all react to their bespoke compositions!

I came here for the odd time signature because that is something I have never really been able to manage, and I'm always so impressed with folks who master it. You make 9/4 sound completely natural. Smooth, relaxing, sweet and soft all describe your composition very well. I like this laid-back personality!

This has a really nice feel to it. Very relaxing to listen to. You captured the vibe really well, based on the description of the person you were writing about. I really like it. Well done!

So relaxing! And you got me listening to the time signature. Very smooth, those transitions are excellent. The best songs never reveal their mysteries, and this is no exception. Wonderful arrangement and choices along the way. Than you for making this!

I love piano music and this very chill indeed, so you met you goal. The brass is a wonderful touch. 9/4 wow never tried that but it's very warm and bouncy . #tit4tat

Absolutely gorgeous! I love how the melody line flows, weaving in and out of the layers. Kudos for taking on an odd time signature in a way that feels natural and easy. Lovely touch on the keys!

Oh I love this. You write very well in the odd time signature - I enjoyed the melody when the higher pad sound took it over before 2.00m - and then came in again around 3.30. Nice composition - gonna check out another one of your tunes. :-) #tit4tat hitting you back. :-)

This is soothing. I'm not sure I've ever heard anything in this time signature before, but it sounds very natural and apt.
